"Oh no… Maddy I am so sorry, I should have known, I…I should have cross-checked" Serena continued as she sinked into self blame.
Madeline raised her hand to pat her back in an attempt to calm her down but she just kept rambling. "Calm down both of you, Bryan interrupted. Madeline, I have your blood work; the results should be available in at most 7days. For now stop taking the drugs or any medication."
He hesitated lowering his voice to sound less controlling. He knew she didn't like feeling like she was being controlled "If you need to take any drugs for anything at all, tell me first and I would prescribe one to you ok?"
Madeline nodded before realising he wasn't present. "Ok Doctor Bryan. Thank you."
Hearing this, Bryan smiled "Just Bryan is fine. There is something else, You should let Zachary know about this. Vexco23 is a tightly controlled drug and is produced by his pharmaceutical company, Maybe start from there". After stating that he hung up.
Madeline hesitated, she didn't want to face Zachary's intimidating and interrogative presence and she wasn't ready to play mind games with him today so she turned to Serena who was bitting her nails off in anxiety. "Can you get me a Laptop".
She nodded before heading upstairs. Not long after she came down and handed it over to Madeline. She came forward to sit but Madeline glanced at her "can you order us something. I haven't eaten all day". Serena nodded and left. Madeline didn't want her to know what she was up to so she opened the laptop and started typing. Before long, green codes on lines filled the entire screen and Madeline kept on typing a smile playing on her lips.
On the other side, Zachary was looking at some documents when his computer suddenly pinged. Someone was trying to get in. "Interesting" he smirked. Today had been an extremely boring day at least now he gets to have some fun.
Before long both their foreheads were covered with a flick of sweat. Zachary sat straight up as his eyes clouded looking at the familiar codes trying to gain access. He hardened his gaze instantly. This person wasn't a newbie, he wondered who hired them and what exactly they wanted.
In a split second because of his wandering mind, he was almost overpowered but he clenched his teeth and kept typing. Just then he noticed a loophole so he finished them off completely but he stared at the computer screen and turned from defence to attack.
Madeline slouched on the couch in defeat. She didn't know if her skills had gotten rusty or her opponent was just that good. She was about to close her computer when she noticed the other person trying to get in.
She smiled, this person was too full of themselves, she trusted the firewall she built but to be safe she kept watch.
After about an hour or so, they were still in a stalemate so the other party gave up but not without a message "R is that you?, another one entered a second after. "it's me F".
She stared at the message on the screen, she jumped in suprise, this person knew her, R had to be Rubix right? Well look like she had to make a trip down to the Forrester Corp after all.
Serena came out of the kitchen to see Madeline putting her shoes on thinking Madeline was really hungry and was going to find food for herself, she approached "Maddy where are you off to, the takeout would be here any minute." but all she received was a wave and in no time she was gone.
Madeline quickly reached the gate about to call a cab when she saw the security man looking at her. After she caught his gaze, he quickly looked away but after some time he went in to get a piece of paper. "Excuse me Miss Madeline, my daughter is a huge fan, can I get an autograph".
She had thought the security was looking at her for a different reason, maybe her makeup was smudged or something. "Of course she answered with a smile; any special words for her?"
"Ah.. yes, can you tell her study more"
Madeline nodded before writing it, the man thanked her, wiped his hands on his shirt before collecting the paper, carefully folding it before putting it into his pocket. As if he remembered something he turned back at her "Miss Madeline if you are waiting for a cab, you won't see any. Cabs don't come into the district. But you can rent a car and a driver opposite if that works for you".
Across the gate was a rental so she walked up to reception. The staff raised his head and it was Ian. His gaze darkened as he saw her but thought of something and put on a smile. "Maddy"… he started, he had to let everyone know he knew her so he can be held in higher regard.
Madeline looked at him with a smile her gaze drifting to his leg. Ian met her eyes and shivered shutting his mouth instantly.
She turned to the next staff there "I would like a car, and a driver". The car came minutes later and she got in completely missing Ian's sinister gaze. The staff seated beside him shivered before turning her face away.
Before getting to the company, she gave Simon a call, asking if Zachary was in. A suprise Simon answered in the affirmative after that she hung up.
Simon quickly headed to Zachary's office, he knocked before going in. Clearing his throat he started… "Madam is coming, she sounded…urgent."
Zachary hummed in response, not lifting his gaze. Bryan has briefed him already, he just didn't know she was going to come today. "Go pick her up" after pausing slightly "and then tell her I am in a meeting".
Simon sighed. "I'm not paid enough to handle this family drama". he muttered before heading downstairs. Zachary had been pretty strange lately with Madeline and it was confusing ."
He reached downstairs and saw Madeline coming out of a cab covered like a ball. He let out a small laugh before leading her to the elevator.
They soon reached the top floor and Madeline walked out. "I need to see my Zachary," she said urgently.
"He's in a meeting," Lucas replied calmly. "Please wait in the lounge."
"I can't, it's pretty urgent"
She saw Zachary through the glass door in his office and shouted, "Hubby!"
Simon blinked. "Madam, it's soundproof."
