Chapter 21 - Another mission

I'm skipping the baseball event basically played out as normal. There's not much I can change about that. anyways, the story starts now..…

Akari Nitta adjusted her glasses as she drove the group towards Yasohachi Bridge. "We've had multiple deaths across different locations. Victims report a strange presence... and front door malfunctions. The victims feel something watching them before dying." She glanced in the rearview mirror at Aiden sitting up front, while Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara sat in the back.

Akari continued, "The three victims died at different times and locations. No pattern. No identifiable curse spirit. Front door malfunctions, strange presence, then death." She paused, frowning. "But there's one common link—all three attended the same high school as teenagers. It's almost like..." She trailed off, looking uneasy. Yuji leaned forward. "Like what?"

"Like someone planted a curse on them years ago, set to activate when they reached a certain age. Or... when they were closest to a specific person." Akari's eyes met Aiden's in the mirror. "The three victims—all in their thirties now—were best friends in high school."

As they approached the scene, a somber atmosphere greeted them. A funeral procession was underway, mourners dressed in black, heads bowed. Akari parked the vehicle at a distance, her expression grave. "It seems we're too late," she murmured, observing the scene through her glasses.

"We need to visit that high school," Aiden stated, his voice firm. "If there's any answer, it'll be there." Yuji nodded in agreement, his jaw clenched. "Let's go. We're wasting time."

Akari drove them toward the high school, her brow furrowed with suspicion. "Something about these deaths doesn't add up," she muttered. "All three victims, same high school, all died around age thirty, and the fourth one... already dead." She glanced in the rearview mirror at Aiden. "And all of them had a mutual acquaintance who seems to be the key."

" there wouldn't happen to be a some kind of urban legend Near that school is there." he asked.

Megumi spoke up, his voice calm and analytical. "There is, actually. The Yasohachi Bridge near the school is tied to several student incidents and urban legends. A popular dare among students is the 'Test of Courage' conducted on that bridge at night." He paused, putting the pieces together.

"All four victims attended the same high school and had connections to that bridge," Megumi continued. "It's highly probable they were involved in some kind of occult activity there. A dare gone wrong, perhaps? Or... someone intentionally cursing them during a test of courage." Akari's expression turned thoughtful. "Smart thinking, Megumi."

She looked back at Aiden

"So," Akari said slowly, "if we want answers, we should start our investigation at the Yasohachi Bridge. That's where the link is." She looked back at Aiden, her gaze sharp and professional. "But keep in mind, if this is as intentional as it seems, we're dealing with something—or someone—rather sophisticated."

The moon hung low in the sky as they approached Yasohachi Bridge. The air was thick with tension and a chilling mist that rolled off the river below. The bridge itself was old and weathered, the wood groaning under their footsteps.

"This place gives me the creeps," Yuji muttered, pulling his collar up.

Megumi glanced at the dark water beneath them.

As the night wore on, they searched the bridge thoroughly—top to bottom, corner to corner. They looked for signs of cursed spirits, disturbances in the air, or any evidence of occult activity. But as dawn began to break, they found nothing. No cursed spirits, no unusual phenomena, no traces of anything suspicious.

Exhausted but undeterred, they stood on the bridge as the sun rose, casting orange light across the river. "This doesn't make any sense," Nobara said, frustration clear in her voice. "If those four were cursed here, there should be something left."

Suddenly, Megumi froze mid-step. A familiar voice called out from the bridge's entrance. "Megumi? Is that you?" An ex-classmate approached, looking surprised. Megumi turned, recognizing her immediately. They exchanged pleasantries before the ex-classmate's expression turned serious.

"I didn't expect to see you here, Megumi," the girl said quietly. Her eyes darted nervously towards the dark waters beneath the bridge. "Are you investigating the Yasohachi rumors too?" She paused, her voice lowering. "Actually, I have a question for you." She looked around cautiously and nodded grimly.

"Do you remember Tsumiki? Your stepsister?" The girl asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Megumi's expression softened at the mention of Tsumiki's name. He nodded slowly, remembering his kind and gentle stepsister. "Yes... I remember her. She was very sweet,"

The girl hesitated, clearly reluctant to say more. "You know... Tsumiki was involved in some kind of occult activity here during her high school days. She used to bring her friends to the Yasohachi Bridge at night." She glanced around nervously. "They'd perform dares—tests of courage." at the sound of that Megumi automatically got worried but did his best not to show it.

As they left the bridge, Yuji and Nobara exchanged glances. School acquaintances had revealed Megumi's past—a tough delinquent who protected others by confronting local troublemakers. This new information added depth to his character. When Yuji confronted him, Megumi remained silent for a long moment before speaking. "Tsumiki..." he began, his voice unusually soft.

"She went to the Yasohachi Bridge with friends during her third year," Megumi explained, his jaw clenched. "They were doing one of those stupid tests of courage. She never came home the same." His eyes darkened with memories. "Fell into a coma and never woke up."

Yuji and Nobara stood in stunned silence, finally understanding why Megumi had been so relentless about this case. The connection to Tsumiki was personal—the worst possible kind of case.

"We need to check the river under the canyon," Megumi said firmly, his resolve unwavering. "That's where the victims' paths intersect."

"It's a good thing you have us To help you." Said Aiden Zenin

Megumi turned to look at Aiden, noting the quiet respect and partnership behind those words. Despite their differences, Aiden Zenin was standing by him.

"I know," Megumi replied firmly, adjusting his stance as they approached the river bank. "We need to find whatever's lurking beneath this canyon before more victims fall."

"Yes and when we are done I will heal your sister."

Megumi's expression softened slightly at Aiden's words, a flicker of hope crossing his face. He nodded, grateful for the support and the promise of healing Tsumiki. "Thank you," he said sincerely. "Let's move out."

They entered the river canyon, the cursed energy growing thicker and more oppressive. As they crossed what seemed like an invisible barrier, the world around them shifted subtly—an incomplete domain, unstable but dangerous.

The air grew colder, shadows stretching unnaturally across the rocks. Yuji clenched his fists, Nobara held her hammer ready, and Aiden's curse energy flared.

As they delved deeper into the cave, the incomplete domain's influence became more pronounced. The walls pulsed with dark energy, and eerie whispers echoed through the underground passageways. Megumi led the way, his curse detection skills honing in on the source of the disturbance. "This way,"

The cave opened up into a vast underground chamber. Standing in the center was a tall, slender young man with long, light-colored hair styled in two prominent braids. His dark, open-chested clothing revealed strange markings that looked almost like horns. His presence was overwhelming—a powerful curse energy radiating from him.

But there was something wrong... something off about his back.

Kechizu's appearance was grotesque—a heavily deformed, non-human face with wide, bulging eyes and dark blueish-purple mottled skin. His jaw was exposed, dripping with foul fluids. His body was shorter and bloated, resembling a corpse in the advanced stages of decay.

"You guys go on ahead I got this two."

Megumi paused, turning to look at Aiden. "Are you sure?" He knew Aiden was powerful, but facing two deadly curses alone was risky business.

Yuji and Nobara exchanged worried glances. "Aiden, this isn't a joke," Nobara said firmly, gripping her hammer. "Those two are dangerous."

But Aiden's resolve was clear.

"I got this now go."

With a nod, Megumi led Yuji and Nobara away, trusting Aiden's abilities. As they disappeared into the shadows, Aiden faced the two cursed beings alone. Kechizu let out a sickening laugh, his bloated body shaking. "Alone?"

The moment Aiden's Domain Expansion, 'Ever-Changing Wheel,' activated, the entire cave plunged into darkness. A massive, swirling wheel materialized, its edges lined with shifting symbols. The wheel's energy was overwhelming, blending all six of Aiden's techniques into a single, unpredictable force. Kechizu let out a startled hiss, his bloated body convulsing.

Suddenly, the domain's energy shifted dramatically. Aiden's "IDOL TRANSFORMATION" activated, and both Eso and Kechizu were transformed. The monstrous, decaying curses vanished, replaced by two breathtakingly beautiful women. Tall, slender figures with long, flowing hair, large busts, and accentuated waists. Their grotesque features were gone, replaced by stunning feminine beauty.

The sudden change was jarring—two deadly curses now looking like perfect idols. The woman who was formerly Eso blinked her large, dark eyes, running her hands over her new curves appreciatively. "This is... interesting," she purred, her voice now soft and melodic. Kechizu, or rather her female form, giggled seductively.
