The town was living in terror of Sheriff Crow, a man who had found the Blue Ring—the Ring of Stellar Heat. Crow didn't use guns; he used the ring to turn the very air into a boiling furnace, melting the wooden buildings and making the ground too hot to walk on.
Savior, the God of Land, stood his ground. When Crow unleashed a wave of stellar heat, Savior slammed his foot down, raising a wall of dense, heat-resistant granite. But the Blue Ring was powerful; it began to turn Savior's stone into molten glass. Savior realized that the ring was actually draining the planet's sun to fuel its attacks. If the fight continued, the star would go supernova and erase the entire system.
In a final act of desperation, Savior pulled all the tectonic energy from beneath the town, creating a massive mountain that absorbed the heat like a cosmic heat-sink. He buried himself and Crow in a tomb of cooling rock, cutting off the ring's access to sunlight. As the heat faded, time froze. The mysterious man appeared in the dark tomb. "Star power in mortal hands... never ends well," he whispered. He took the Blue Ring and reminded Savior, "You stabilize worlds. Remember that." Savior vanished into the light as Sheriff Crow's body turned to ash.
