Chapter 6 - Chapter Six: Crown

James was still sleeping, and Pia was on watch, feeling like someone was watching them. Pia woke him up, clamping his hand around his mouth, whispering, "Someone is watching us!" his eyes shot up, saying, "Where?" James scans the other, his eyes now glowing a tint, a green and orange whispering back, "I saw one of them." Pia looked at him, "There were more than one." James locked eyes with her, saying, "Yes." Before James could say anything, Pia's hand filled with smoke, blasting off where James had been looking before. She grabs James, yelling, "Run!" James picked up the bag as they both heard a crossbow shot and footsteps. James looked at Pia, "Get ready, I'm about to try something new." His eyes glowed green as plant life sprouted up, blocking the soldier away from them for now; he kept running until they saw an American suburban large house in the forest. James stopped, and Pia knocked on the door. A woman emerged with a shotgun, staring at them. Then, hearing soldiers coming in, she said, "Come inside now." They got inside the house as she pointed towards a room. They opened the door and went inside, seeing stairs going down. Pia whispered, "The basement," then heard knocking on the door. Pia looked through the crack of the door and saw the woman answer it. The general of the soldiers had all of their faces covered. They were talking to her, and she smiled, saying something back before they left. She walked towards the door, opening it. Pia looked at her, closing her fist. "What did you two do?" The woman said Pia spoke, "We did nothing, we just want to leave this place" The woman looked from James to Pia. Pia looked at her. "Why did you help us?" The woman looked at her, "Because the king and the soldier will kill you if they think you committed a crime. But let's talk about each other first. My name is Mable. What's your name?" Pia spoke, "How do we know we could trust you?" James now spoke, "Because she just saved us from those soldiers, my name is James Li, and this is Pia." Pia glared at James, smoke coming from her whole body before disappearing. Mable looked at them before saying, "You two will sleep in the basement tonight and leave early in the morning. And please don't mind the mess," They both nodded their heads in agreement. "It's fine, I lived with siblings before, but never this many," Pia said, trying to smile. James smiled, "I'm an only child, sadly. They went down the stairs to see a bedroom with two twin beds and a shower nearby. James smiled, saying, "Thank you." Mabel looked at them, "Early tomorrow morning, and bring clothes later." She walked upstairs and closed the door.

Pia and James looked at each other. "What do you think the others are like?" James looked at Pia, thought to herself, "I don't know what they are going to be like, but I already don't trust them." James looked at her, "You don't trust anyone." She smiled before looking at James, then saying, "I'm going to take a shower." She got up and heard the water running. He sat through before seeing some books, getting up and picking one up, before he felt a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, James, we needed to talk with you." Before he could say anything, we were transported to another room. It was a dim library in rows of old books and shelves with memories of thousands of years, and everyone was there looking at him sitting at the table.

Pia let the water run down her back. It was streaming up the whole bathroom as she zoned out, remembering months ago. "Pia, are you listening?" She looked up from her large wine glass. She took a spit saying, rubbing the end of her black sleeveless dress. She looked up, seeing her mom, her dark brown wavy hair, her dark grey eyes, and her figure was thin; her hands were bony. Her face was round, her whole body as if someone had smoothed the harsh edges out. Her dad was the opposite. It had a harsh line on his face. His body was a boxy, sharp face with a large chin. His hair was short and slicked back and black. His eyes were crimson, and he had a large handlebar mustache. She swished the water into a tiny whale pool and said to herself, "I wish I had some red wine instead." She looked up from the glass, saying, "Yes, Father, would you need it from me?" She asked the question, already knowing the answer. He sighed, grabbing his daughter's hand. "Your mother and I are getting a divorce." She wasn't shaking; she had been expecting that she had to act shaken, as some eyes were looking at them. Pia calmly said, "Are you both happy with the situation?" Her mother spoke softly, "Yes, honey." Pia heard phones ringing, and people looked down at their phones. She looked around the restaurant, confused, as women were clutching their necklaces. Whispers started to spread across the restaurant. Pia picked up her phone, and her father said, "Pia wait." She looked down, seeing text messages; her phone had been silent for dinner with her parents. Her friend and family said the same thing: check the news. She went on Google looking up the news. Seeing her father was nervous, her heart dropped as she looked through the articles it said.

"The Williams Foundation and company have been charged with my crimes. The founder, CEO, and many executive directors have been charged and soon convicted."

It went on as she looked in horror, and she turned her phone to her mother. Her mother nearly fainted seeing through many articles. Pia felt disgusted as her hand started to smoke and she tried to control it. She got up and started to yell, but stopped herself. People were looking at them. Her mother met with her, and her father tried to explain, "No, I don't know what they were doing, you have to believe in my love." He looked at Pia's broken voice, "Pia, I love you, you know that." Pia looked away from him; she had never come out to her parents, trying to keep that part of her life hidden.

"He knew!?"

She thought to herself, then the police came in guns drawn, one of them. Terry, a high-ranking officer, yelled: "Get on the ground now!" Her dad raised his hand and went to his knees. More police officers came putting handcuffs on her dad. Her mother sobbed as they carried his father away. Pia didn't cry in public. It was not how she was raised. Her father said, "You should never cry in public, only in private away from onlookers." Pia cried in silence, trying to compose herself. A waiter came up and handed them their food. She was beautiful, with her blond hair and dark brown eyes, and her vertigo skin with dark brown areas on her. Pia wanted to ask her out if those dinners didn't go south. Her mother composed herself as she walked out of the restaurant, not noticing the world around her. Pia handed her the money from the food and 36 dollars extra, saying, "Sorry not a bigger tip." The girl looked at the money, pulling out a piece of paper from her pocket, handing it to Pia, saying, "Read it when you have time." Pia walked out the doors, meeting a police car, he mothers was already in, and she got up, closing the car door. She looked her mother in the eyes, then lay on her shoulder. The woman officer said, "Your family has to stay low for a while. We got your daughter from her friend's house when the news went public. We have no clear evidence that your husband Mr Jones was one of the main executive directors, but we can't rule anything out." Pia noticed how stiff her voice was. Something inside her realized trust is earned, not given out. She zoned back in the shower, finishing up, getting out, drying off, putting clothes on, and seeing James. Sparks builder in her hand, the water cools the spark down. "I can't get attached. We will be leaving soon anyway."

Mason pulled on the chains trying to break them, before Jeff said, "It's no use, there is no way to break out." Mason looked at him, saying, "We have to try at least." Jeff thought to himself before saying, "What about your power can that help us out?" Mason said, "I don't know how they work at all. What about you?" Jeff then said, "I don't know how my power works either." Mason said, "Let's go over everything we do not and don't know. I have some power in life and death," Jeff looked down. "Whoa, I have reality control." Mason looked at him, surprised. "Can you use them right now?" Jeff shook his head no. Mason sighs, saying, "When I see King, I'm going to make sure to feed him his own crown. They sat there in prison waiting for hours, no one came, before Atlas came back, "Hey kid, how are you holding up?" Jeff sighed, "Not good at all. Can you help me?" Atlas bent down. "Sorry, kid, you used all the energy we needed for food and rest before I could try to help you out, " He said, looking at Mason, who was now sleeping. Jeff, "What am I going to do?" Atlas patted him on the back, "as you said, you have each other." They were raked out of the cell by a couple of guards wearing full masks. They also wore full armor, and they took to the shower stripped down. They loved it, seeing it had been so long, they had washed out in creeks and rivers, but nothing like this. Mason didn't even look at Jeff, knowing they were both guys, and since they were just friends. They were forced out, got a change of clothes, and were chained in the same old, musty cell. Mason noticed most of the other inmates were in their cell when they were let out; he didn't think too much of it.

Mason was floating, though his mind escaped before light consumed him. "Hey Mason," Death said as he opened his eyes. The same room is a cream white room with those large windows and the curtain covering one of them. Mason turned his head, seeing Death still lounging on the couch. "Hey, Death. Where is Life at?" "Right behind you Mason," he looked behind him, seeing her sitting down in a cream white curtain seat. "Can you both help us out," Death shouted, "No wa-," before Life stopped him. "Sorry Mason, there is no way we can help you out if your energy is too low. If we use our power now, we don't know what it could do to your body, sorry." Mason looked through the window, seeing Jeff sleeping, smiling at him, and blushing. Then I looked at both of them. "Am I going to protect Jeff no matter what?" Death grin looked at Life, "My love I think it's time to talk to others." The light started to flicker as the room started to fall apart. "See you soon my friend," Mason didn't have time to react before he woke up. He looked outside their cell, feeling like someone was watching them, not seeing anything except the ink-black void. He looked away, seeing Jeff blushing at him, "I can't believe I like him."
