"Clothes delivery," said one of the oldest daughters of Juliana around James' age. dropping down the clothes. James looked at her, and she looked back. He winked, blowing a kiss at her, and she blushed. Before going back upstairs, James smiled, his eyes glowing a hint of green before saying, "I love controlling your body, it's fun." James looked at the woman who was in his body. She was roughly his age, with silky black hair, dark brown eyes, and a dark tan. "Get out of my body," she said as James' eyes closed, and they both left the body back in the room. "Now can you all explain what I am doing here?" He said to all of them, gathered around the dim library, rows of old books and shelves filled with memories of thousands of years of people from different cultures and ethnicities, looking at him.
"And will my body be okay?" He looked back at his body; it was odd to see himself. "I need a haircut." Anpu scoffed, "Your body will be fine, it's like you sleep isn't that right?" He looked at a tall person whose body constantly changed in height, shape, and voice. "Anpu is right, you will just sleep until you decide to wake you, but we are getting off track. The reason we brought you here is to get better at your abilities." Their voices were soft. James looked at them, "I'm getting better at my abilities already," someone said, "You're taking too long Li." A man from 1948 spoke up, "I mastered my abilities when I was your age." Anpu said, "It is because the Sakura-looking girl is getting distracted." James injected, "Her name is Pia and-" he was drowned out by other people talking. One yelled out, "Have too much feeling for others." James yelled over all of them, floating above them, "Enough this is about me, right? I can prove I am worthy of this power like all of you do already!" The room went quiet before he heard skipping as the 8-year-old boy wearing an oversized black hat with a large golden buckle in the middle. Looking at James smiling, "I believe in you James Li," then hugging him. James' eyes started to water, and he looked at the young boy who looked native american. The clothes he was wearing were a small but on shirt with vivid patterns and colors. His clothes were dirty, and his face was spotted. Then everyone looked at him. Anpu looked at him, "I believe in you James, also. "There was a new unease of whispers of some agreeing and others disagreeing. Pia looked at him, "Are you good Li?" He was confused before feeling his face fresh, wet tears streaming down his face, "I'm fine." Looking at Pia wearing newer clothes, wearing sweat pants, and a long-sleeve shirt, her hair was wavy from the steam. He blushed at her, "I'm going to take a shower if you need me." Pia watched him go in and closed the door, hearing the water run. She looked into the mirror, seeing that almost half of her hair was white. She quietly walked upstairs, opened the door, and walked towards the kitchen, finding a knife, picking it up. See, throw it in the air before seeing Mable with a shotgun pointing at her, "You love that shotgun May." Mable responds, "Put down the knife, girl." Pia smirked, "Are you what you shot me? The second that gun goes off I will throw this knife, we are both going to die." Mable thought about "Do you really want to test that theory of yours?" James was about to get in the shower, looking at the gold ring, about to take it off, then getting a flash of the past, "James, you need to stand up for yourself," "You got this Li." Tears filled his "Houston am sorry I couldn't save you," he went into the shower saying, "Pia I will save her like I couldn't save you."
Pia glared at Mable, questioning what to do next. Pia slowly lowered the knife, and Mable backed up some more as she also lowered her sight. Mabel looked at her, then up to her mixed white and brown hair, asking, "What about your hair?" Pia stopped lowering her guard before looking at her, confessing, "My powers drain my life force slowly. I was trying to focus on my hair. If it keeps going-" She stopped her words, not wanting to finish her words, it meant it would be accepted as a fact. Mabel lowered her shotgun. "Does the boyfriend know?" Pia only said one thing, "He is not my boyfriend… but no.." Mabel said back, "You need to tell him." Pia clapped back, "No need, we will never see each other again after this." They heard footsteps coming down the stairs. One of the youngest sons, Olly, came down. Mable looked at him, "What sweet root do you need?" He smiled, "Water, mother please." Pia put down the knife on the kitchen counter, got a cup, and handed it to the boy. He smiled at her, saying, "Thank you, Ms." before going back upstairs. Mabel and Pia gave an understanding look. Mabel rolled her eyes, meaning, "I guess." Pia picked up the knife as she walked back to the basement. "I need my knife back." Pia smiled, looking at her as she closed the door walking downstairs. She saw James looking at her, "Hey, what's with the knife?" She replied, "Just in case we needed to fight," James looked at her, confused on his face, "Why not just use your powers?" Pia started to bite her lip to help hide her true emotion and said, "I don't want to rely on my power all the time." James smiled back, "Well I am tired. Goodnight." He hit the bed. Pia looked at him, then at the mirror, seeing her face, sighing, turning off the lamp as the room was engulfed in darkness.
Mason sat there wondering what they were going to do. His hands were now throbbing in pain over and over. He knew it was going to get infected, but there was nothing he could do. Days passed as they fell into a routine in the morning, they got slower, changed back into the same clothes, then ate soup. Later in the day, they ate soup and bread for dinner. Only one soldier came into their cell, giving them chicken soup, or what they hoped for with chicken soup. It was always chucky, and itś color was a muddy brown. Mason looked up at Jeff, saying, "What would you do if you were home right now?" Jeff thought about the question before saying, "I will be at home with my older brother and younger sister. My mother would probably be cooking some type of roast in the oven singing some songs that she used to know from her childhood. My sister would mostly be playing some sort of games with her friend, and my brother would be reading a book or helping my mother with dinner." Mason said, "What about your dad?" Jeff's face changed to a sad expression. "My dad would come home yelling at mom about the dish, or if the food was done yet, or something that happened at his job. They always fight about it. We try to cover my sister from hearing the arguing. Then one day my dad hurt her and it took everything for my brother not to kill him. The cops came and then he was gone for good. I haven't seen him for 4 years." Mason's eyes filled with tears. "I'm so sorry to hear about that, I am here with you." Jeff said, "What would you do if you were home?" Mason looked at him, "My brother will be watching TV, my mom will be cooking food on the stove after work, and my dad will come home after work. We will have dinner. Why? My favorite food was chicken pasta. I used to love it." Jeff smiled, "At least someone had a good childhood." Mason started to break down in tears, mumbling to himself, "I can take it. it anymore." Jeff looked at him, "You can talk to me." Mason didn't reply, turning from him. Jeff persisted, "Just tell me, Mason!"Mason yelled back, "Can you just shut up for five minutes?" He got up, gasping for breath, looking at Jeff. Jeff got up. "It´s not my fault your parents didn't love you enough as a child." Tears of anger ran down Mason's cheek. He caught his breath and spoke with a Texas accent, "You don't know half of my life is life Jefferson I wonder did you daddy and mommy not get everything you want you throw a little temper tantrum each time?" Jeff and Mason were inches from their faces, yet the chains were the only thing holding them back from hitting each other. Mason went on, "Well I think we found a nerve to hit oh you're going to cry."Jeff snapped the chain as his eyes glowed red, rocking Mason in the mouth. Mason got up quickly, feeling his mouth. "All of that for no blood." Mason jumped and double-kicked Jeff to the back wall. He snapped off the chains and was all his stretch swinging at Jeff. Jeff's eyes glowed red, caught the chain, dragging Mason closer, causing the last chain of Mason to snap. Mason smirked, running towards Mason Jeff, dodging the punch as Mason cracked the wall. Jeff crawled back, "You really got some fight in you since you have the power of life and death in you." Jeff floated up, charging towards Mason, who he couldn't reach because Mason nearly crashed through the wall, in addition to causing Jeff's chain to snap. He looked at himself, surprised by his own actions, and then fell. He ran back up to Mason, ready to end his fight. Mason's eyes glowed white, causing long, thick vines to grow from the ground, chaining Jeff in place. Jeff was to try at this point to fight back, but both of their visions were going blurry from how many they used up in their fight. Mason fell to the ground as soldiers wearing masks across their faces came in. They made a circle in the air, causing light blue dust to flow across the room. They fell asleep, hitting the cold stone floor.
Mason woke up looking at Jeff, looking back at him. They were rechained, and the cell was cleaned up. Mason felt his bruised face and body. He was exhausted looking at Jeff. They glared at each other, not talking to one another. Jeff said, "This was your fault." Mason turned around, saying, "I'm not talking to you." Jeff was still not used to the Mason Texan accent, which he had been hiding the entire time. Mason's hair was long, and the dreads were now thick and matted.
They felt a blinding violet light as they both opened their eyes. It was midnight, and it was a crescent moon. Jeff saw a light purple butterfly fly before him as his eyes were blinking crazily. It took some time to adjust to the light. It was a Japanese woman with pitch-black long hair and a long purple dress with butterfly patterns. She smiled at him, "Hello, my friend," Mason looked at Jeff, then back at the woman, "Who are you?" She looked at them, saying, "My name is Cho and I am here to help you. Think of me as a guide out of this prison." Jeff was going to say "Can you-" before she interrupted, "Sorry, I can't help you break out of here because of my friends who tell me no and my own code is limited. The only thing I could say I know is that it is filled with challenges, and I know your life is going to have more challenges in the future. But I know one thing about you both that the powers in you are your power, no matter what these powers are you use them to your advantage to pull through the fog of doubt." Jeff and Mason looked at each other. Jeff's mind was filled with doubt already before Cho spoke: "I know you both got this." Then felt so sleepy before they woke up with heavy footsteps coming, their cold metal door swinging open.
The military general, an overly dressed man, looks like royalty, most likely someone working in royal fairs. Mason knew this man had never stepped into a prison in his life before this day. The man pulled out a rolled-up piece of paper, uncomfortable about his environment, stating, "Under Act 40 of the comment of terrorism, and Act 120 of assault of the royal general of the royal army, you both are sentenced to death." Those words felt like the world was crumbling around them; the general faces were covered, but Jeff knew they were smiling underneath as they left. Hours passed as they were thinking of someone out; everything they thought of went nowhere. Until they heard the door open again, Jeff didn't look up. Mason saw the general take over their helmet. It was a tan skin scar face woman. She smiled, looked at him, and then at Jeff. Her voice boomed as she said, "You could make some fine soldiers, unfortunately, you are both going to die." She closed the door behind her and walked towards Mason Jeff, now looking up. "But I could change their mind if you do something for me." She got inches away from Mason's face, her breath smelled of meat and wine as she tried to get closer, now touching his shoulder. "Get away from him!" Jeff yelled at her, " Every bone in his body she went to punch her, but she turned her body towards him and walked towards him. "I will rip out your spine, so help me." Jeff's eyes went red as he pulled on his eyes so hard the back wall cracked, and his wrist slightly bled. She smiled, "You are an angry one, aren't you? I can't wait to rip that gem from your cold, dead body." She left the cell smiling to herself. Mason looked at Jeff, "Are your wrists okay?" Jeff did a heavy exhale, "I'm going to be fine." Mason looked at him, "You ready to escape?" Jeff nodded his head as they waited for nightfall, as they both used all their power and their body. Finally, hearing their chains break, they got up and looked at each other. They hugged each other so tight as Mason picked him up in the air as they looked into each other's eyes, getting close to each other's faces, closing their eyes before. Then a sharp pain ran up their body they pulled apart as green energy came from their veins. Mason's eyes were glowing green; they felt their bones and skin heal. "Mason, when did you learn how to do that?" Jeff replied, "I don't know." Mason responded. He looked at the wall as plant life broke through the wall. Mason grabbed his hands. And they ran into a nearby forest and looked into the night, glancing at one another. Mason held out his hands as Jeff grabbed them as they ran into the night.
