Later, after Damon left the pack house, Jacob also went inside the bathroom to take a shower. The warm water poured down on his body, but even that couldn't calm the mess inside his mind.
He still couldn't get over the way Damon had called him cute earlier. Just remembering it made his face burn once again.
It was such a simple word, yet hearing it from Damon felt completely different. Damon was never the type of man to say things like that. He was harsh, cold, and difficult to read most of the time. Compliments never existed in his vocabulary. Compliments never part of his childhood.
And yet this morning, he had looked directly at Jacob and said it so naturally.
Cute.
Jacob covered his face under the running water and groaned quietly as the same word kept on repeating like a broken melody.
"Damn it…" he muttered under his breath.
The more he thought about it, the more embarrassed he became.
