Riley's POV
I slip through the entrance doors and make my way outside, seeking refuge on one of the massive boulders that border the parking area. My attempt at deep breathing proves futile as my injured ribs send sharp protests through my chest. Defeated, I rest my head against my palms, elbows balanced awkwardly on my knees with the cast making the position even more uncomfortable.
"Planning your escape?" Silas's voice drifts from behind me.
A frustrated groan escapes my lips as I whip my head around to face him. The sudden movement sends my world spinning, and I teeter dangerously on the rock's edge. Before I can topple over, Silas rushes forward and steadies me, his strong hands ensuring I remain upright.
The dam inside me finally bursts. Tears stream down my face uncontrollably, and I despise showing this vulnerability to him. My knees draw up to my chest despite the agony it triggers, and I bury my face against my legs, sobbing without restraint.
