Chapter 7 - The Rich Phantom

Moon walked until he reached the center of Zone 1. It was a huge camp called the Inner Safe Zone. A glowing yellow bubble of magic covered the camp so monsters could not get inside.

Inside the bubble, hundreds of players were resting. Most of them looked very tired, dirty, and scared. They sat on the ground eating dry bread.

In the middle of the camp was a giant, floating crystal. It was the [System Shop]. Players could spend their Life Points here to buy weapons, food, and magic potions.

Moon pulled his black scarf up higher. He walked toward the shop.

A loud, angry voice caught his attention.

"What do you mean it costs 200 Life Points?!"

It was Alex. He was standing in front of the System Shop with Lina right beside him. Alex was pointing at a shiny, sharp Silver Sword floating inside the shop crystal.

"I am a B-Rank Berserker!" Alex yelled. "I have killed six monsters today! I only have 80 Life Points! How can a sword cost 200?!"

Lina looked worried. "Don't yell, Alex. We can hunt more tomorrow."

Other players were whispering. "Wow, he killed six monsters? He is so strong!" "But 200 Life Points is crazy. No one has that much money on the first day."

Moon smiled under his mask. Six monsters? Moon had killed so many he stopped counting.

Moon walked right past Alex and Lina. He didn't say a word. He just stood in front of the floating shop crystal.

"Hey! Back of the line, ninja boy!" Alex barked, trying to push Moon's shoulder.

But Moon stood like a solid rock. Alex pushed him, but Moon did not move even one inch. Alex looked shocked.

Moon put his hand on the crystal. A blue menu popped up. Moon didn't look at the cheap swords. He didn't look at the food. He scrolled down to the very bottom, where the rarest items were.

[Item: Mystery Skill Book (Rare)][Cost: 500 Life Points]

Without blinking, Moon clicked "Buy."

DING!

A super loud, happy chime rang through the whole camp. The System Shop flashed with bright purple light. A golden book floated out of the crystal and landed right in Moon's hand.

The entire camp went completely silent. Everyone's mouths fell open.

"F-Five hundred Life Points?!" Alex gasped, his eyes wide with pure shock. "That's impossible! Who is this guy?!"

"He must be a hidden master from a huge Guild..." Lina whispered. She looked at the mysterious boy in the black scarf with eyes full of awe and respect. She had no idea she was looking at the "useless Null" she threw away just a few hours ago.

Moon didn't look back at them. He just put the golden book in his pocket and walked away into the shadows of the camp.

You think a B-Rank makes you a king? Moon thought, laughing inside. I am playing a completely different game.
