Chapter 1 - Chapter One: The Fall of Azani and the Hidden Prince

An ancient time there was a Kingdom called Azani and the chosen ones from the king's bloodline were gifted amazing powers to help the world. Besides the king's bloodline, there were others from outside who had great abilities to control energies around them, but only a special being from within the palace was chosen to control the great power of the sky. And such a being existed 150 years ago who was known as King Ronewa.

On the full moon night, middle of nowhere, the crown prince Akonaho with his bodyguard unit were trapped within the jungle. They were surrounded by powerful enemies who used their abilities with evil intentions. The prince, being the only son of the late king, was a prey for these predators, to eliminate him and take over the throne. After being blamed years ago for his father's death, his powers were sealed which led him to be powerless, unable to control the energy around him. Those from the Maanda clan were the second most powerful family after the King's family, and were one of the great spiritual healers having a high priest by their side. The priest was the one who sealed his waves, making him a weak cursed prince.

With Aza his right-hand man by his side in the jungle and his unit, they managed to find a safe place to hide for a while. Aza was a swordsman who had the ability to control air, and he was very skilled. He was a tall, dark-skinned man and was famous for his skills and looks. Most of the guards who were able to manipulate the laws of nature were wiped out. They were surrounded by many enemies in each and every corner of the jungle, and only few were left. The wind energy manipulation from the enemy was too powerful for them to handle. Aza afraid that his prince would be killed, told him to run away. He insisted and told him that he would try to keep them engaged by fighting them. Scared, panting and praying for his life and his people, he ran towards a passage with trees straight head and not looking back.

Aza was now surrounded by 10 people carrying their swords, and their faces were covered with black masks. Aza stood his ground, with his deep voice, being cold and said, "I guess you all will find out why I'm called the wrath Arani." Arani was a term used to call people who were able to control the energy around them. Gathering the energy around him, he started unleashing his anger, ready to weave his power. They stared at him and hesitated to come close to him seeing how the wind was quivering around them. They tried to control the waves around them, but Aza used his hand swaying it, collecting and manipulating the wind waves and used it to beat them. Channeling the energy in his sword, he slayed his enemies like it was nothing, without his sword touching them. He was fast and could predict the moves of his enemies before they could attack him.

While the prince was still on the run, few men noticed him and chased him. He reached a dead end while he was on the top of the mountain, and down there was a river moving towards the waterfall. Seeing many enemies approaching and also Aza being at a faraway distance, the prince jumped off the cliff and fell in raging river. The water was too wild to swim in, and he was trying his best to find a way to save himself. The prince learnt martial arts and how to use swords since no one taught him how to unlock his power. The few enemies left seeing that the water was too wild and leading towards the waterfall, moved towards the place to see if it would lead to the death of the prince. Aza was feeling hopeless at that point. He rushed toward the edge of a mountain near the top of the waterfall. The prince heard a voice in his head telling him to keep calm and embrace the water. He stopped fighting it and just gave in accepting his fate. He fell down the waterfall and was not to be found after that.

The enemies at that point left and the royal guards were looking for Akonaho's body. The prince's mother was shattered and was in despair upon hearing the news and refused to believe his son was dead. A week passed, and Aza and his people arrived at the palace. Covered in blood with an emotionless expression he was on his way to the council chamber, where the Queen, leaders of the three big families and a few other important leaders from other families were meeting to have a word about whatever had happened.

Aza entered the room and bowed to greet and to show his respect. The leaders of the big Three families were; the high priest from Maanda clan, Mulamu from Haral Clan responsible for educating people in the Azani Kingdom and they also had great power as they were a distance family of the Azan family (Royal family), Danda from Guru clan responsible for making sword and equipment for war, and there were few ministers present also. The late King's stepbrother Andani was also there worried about his nephew. There was a lot of suspense in the room with many questions and different emotions. It was quiet and also loud at the same time. Few from the hall were relieved that Akonaho was missing as they believed that he was a curse. It was said that Akonaho was born on a cursed day, and it was a sign of the beginning of the destruction of the kingdom. Andani insisted that before making any haste decisions, they should wait for few more months, the prince might be safe and return. The Queen sent Aza and other people to look for her son and strictly commanded them that they shouldn't return until they found him.

At an unknown place, being taken care of by a pretty lady with pretty hazel eyes with long tied black dreads, the prince woke up with the sunlight on his face. He wondered if he was at heaven, awed by the beauty of the angel Infront of him. The lady was a healer known in name of Onakaho. Luckly, he remembered who he was and where he was from but didn't tell her. First thing he asked where the place was, and she responded and said with a soothing voice, "You are at Okani, no need to panic. We found you near a lake unconscious and brought you here to treat you as you were injured, and you were in deep sleep for almost a month". It was his first time hearing the name of the place and figured out he was far away from home. He went outside the house and walked around. There were so many people, busy with a life of their own, filled with joy and lots of kids around, it was a small joyful village. Onakaho followed him and told him not to roam around, he just woke up. And he said he was fine and asked if she could show him around. She did.

Onakaho's friend showed up. Being playful she said, "Oh he's awake now? Are you feeling well now? You look more prettier now that you are awake." Onakaho said, "Ana you can't just say whatever that comes to your mind, atleast keep some things to yourself." Akonaho replied, "Uhm it's okay, I'm feeling much better thanks to your friend and the people who took care of me." Akonaho was feeling a bit shy. The friend said, "Thank God Onakaho found you on time that day. She went to the lake to pray to find a good husband soon and she found you …" Onakaho feeling embarrassed she panicked and said, "Ana stop!" Afterwards she became serious and said, "It's time to meet my father. He has few questions for you." Akonaho said "Sure, I hope I'm not in trouble". Onakaho responded while joking, "Why would you be? You were asleep the whole time, unless you've been fooling everyone to get shelter." She said, "My father is a village chief here, since it's a small village and you were at our place he wants to meet you." And after that she took him to her father, the village chief. He asked where he was from, but he lied and said he lost his memories, and the chief allowed him to reside in the village with them under the name Manu.

Akonaho thought that being away would ease the mind of his people back home. He wanted to start afresh in that village where no one hated him and be away from all sorts of fights and greed for the throne. He lived happily in that village for a year and fell in love with Onakaho. The village chief disapproved of their relationship since he had no idea where the man was from. Akonaho with guilt because of his lies decided to tell Onakaho the truth that he was a prince and everything about his life. She was stressed because she knew her father wouldn't approve of a cursed prince and told him not to tell her father. They both argued because he said he didn't want to start a relationship with a lie, and she said they had no choice but to lie since her father wouldn't approve and might throw him out. The situation was tense, but their love was strong, so he agreed and she managed to convince her father, and the father obviously gave in to the daughter's requests seeing how seriously she was about Manu. They got married, and eight months passed.

Meanwhile, Aza and the guards were still looking for the prince and ended up in the village Okani asking everyone if they knew a man named Akonaho. They ended up seeing him while he was coming back from hunting, holding the spear and the bow and arrow on his back. They called him by his real name. Shocked upon hearing his real name being called, he froze for a second and looked around in panic, then saw them in their royal guard attire with Aza among the people. They approached him and were relieved as their long search was a successful one. He pulled them to a quiet place to talk to them, and the village chief saw them and became suspicious. He followed them to eavesdrop.

Akonaho told them to go back, and they refused to go back without him as he had responsibility towards the Kingdom. Revealing everything in their conversation, the village chief hears them and summoned Manu and confronted him for lying and threatened to punish him. The guards tried to protect Manu and said they had to take him with them, and they should not interfere with it as there will be dire consequences. While Akonaho was still refusing to go with them, Aza threatened him that he would take him by force if he still refused. Akonaho looked straight into Aza eyes with an intimidating expression and said, "You dare disobey me? Did you forget who you are talking to? I'm your prince! Do as I say and leave." Commanding them. Aza said that it was his duty, and he would not be leaving without him. Seeing how intense the situation was, Akonaho agreed and told the village chief he would be leaving with his wife who was eight months pregnant by then and promised to take care of her and make her a Queen. The village chief had no choice but to agree, since his daughter was now married and also a future Queen. The next day arrived and Onakaho bid farewell to her family and friends with a heavy heart. They departed.

It took them almost 2 days to reach the palace, and everyone was shocked to see the prince alive. He was taken to the council chamber along with his wife, and his mother was pleased to see him. He introduced his wife and announced that she will be giving birth to their child in a month. The atmosphere was not very welcoming. They were few people who were filled with disappointment with the prince's return, such as the high priest and few ministers. The Queen and the uncle seemed happy and acknowledged Onakaho. The Queen suggested that they crown him to be the King since the new prince would be born in a month, and there were no objections. Akonaho was set to be crowned as a King in next two days and the word spread around the town.

At night a few days later Andani seemed to be in distress. A fox in sheep's clothing plotting against his nephew being greedy for power and the throne. Andani was furious acting mad in his room seeing how his plans were not working. His wife Masindi entered the room in a haste. She was in a bad mood and seemed very angry and said while raising her voice, "What will you do now? An opportunity has slipped out of our hands. Akonaho is back and not only that, but his child will also be born in just a month! That throne belongs to my son Alan! We only have a day left and if we don't act now, everything we worked for up until now will be for nothing!!" He responded and said, "There's no need to shout woman! I know what's going on, I'm not a fool! But you are right about one thing, it's time to act now. We have waited long enough and if we continue waiting, we will lose everything in a blink of an eye." He headed out and met with the High priest and 3 malicious ministers. They were behind the prince's attack. They wanted to extract his powers and kill him since he had no idea how to use them, but it was not as easy as it seemed. The high priest said, "There's no time to waste now, we are attacking the palace, and we have to kill Akonaho and his wife." They all agreed and started preparing their soldiers.

Onakaho in pain in a room all alone, she screamed. She was going through early labor. Hearing his wife screaming, he rushed to the room, shocked to see her in pain and realized the baby was on the way. He tried to comfort her, also holding her hand and told her, "I'm here now. No need to panic, everything will be fine." Akonaho screamed for help while carrying her in his hands taking her to the royal healers in the backrooms and few maids, the Queen and guards came. The maids were told to hurry up and call the nurse and started preparing for the birth. They started hearing noises a bit far from the palace. Akonaho, Aza and the guards' hurried to the top of the tower and saw a horrifying site of people with black masks and scary looking creatures like humans with ominous energy approaching the palace and killing people on the streets. Akonaho commanded his guards and told them to prepare for war, and they should guard the gates at all costs. Others from the top of the wall right above the gates were shooting arrows to stop the evil guards and creatures from entering. Some used the waves to stop them. The gate broke and it was chaos. The sky was angry, clouds were turning, raining heavily with thunder alongside.

Onakaho was feeling tremendous pain while giving birth, screaming in pain clutching fist and pulling the blankets. The Queen was afraid and told them after giving birth they should escape, she would try her best to stop the evil beings from entering the backroom's gate. She said with her voice in agony, "Make sure the kid is safe by all means, I don't know for how long I'll be able to hold out for." She went outside and saw the evil beings and created a barrier of energy to stop them from passing. The cry of the baby was later on heard from inside the room.

The Queen was relieved that the baby is okay and shouted, "Run away!! I can't stop them for too long, run!!". She failed to stop them, and her head was chopped off her body. Her blood was everywhere and the evil beings shouted with joy saying they would win. Before they could take a step further, a huge force stopped the evil warriors from taking a step and they wondered who was doing that. It was Akonaho trying by all his means to use his powers to save his family standing on the balcony at a side. He said with eyes filled with agony and resentment, along with tears of pain, "You killed my mother and now you want to finish off my entire family! No one will be passing here alive. You all are yet to see what real power is." He was hurting but he didn't want to stop. Aza was fighting other powerful warriors far from the backrooms. Akonaho pushed the warriors with full force and jumped down, it was not that far from the ground. He was also surprised he could collect the droplets of rain from the rain and used it along with his energy, making him have the advantage. With his sword in his hand, he screamed loudly and used it, thunder came out from his sword while hitting the enemies. The opponents were shocked and kind of scared, but they couldn't back down. They kept on coming more and more and his waves kept on emerging and spreading.

Onakaho told the maid to run though the backdoor without her as she wouldn't be able to make it. She was in critical condition. The maid was hesitating "But what about…". Onakaho said with tears rolling down her face, "Yes I know but we don't have time I don't think we will make it, it also pains me, so please take my child with you and raise him well far away from this place." Onakaho when holding her baby boy, gave him a name Rendani. She handed the boy to the maid. The maid while shaking and frightened, she said, "but Your highness this...". She screamed, "Leave!!!" with her voice filled with agony, and the maid left. She broke down in tears, "I'm so sorry my child I had no choice; we have no time left and …" she saw Andani and his guard entering through the backdoor. "Look who is here, what a surprise. "He let out an evil laughter. She was now scared and confused, breathing heavily.

Meanwhile Akonaho was using tricks he never thought he could use. His eyes bled as he was trying his best to use his powers. His uncle threw a sword behind him, and it stabbed him in the middle of his back. He looked around and it was his favorite uncle standing with an evil smile on his face. Shocked and feeling betrayed he said, "You...? How could you do this to me? I trusted you. You are like a brother to me and considered you a father figure. You…". Andani smiled and said to him, "Dear nephew, these tears won't have an effect on me. You and your father were always a nuisance to me. I've always wanted to snatch that power inside of you and also wanted to rule nations, but it was impossible because of you and your father, all because I'm an illegitimate child!! Same way I'm killing you today, I drove your father mad years ago so he could kill you, but instead I killed him and made it look like you did it, you still remember?" with an evil laughter.

A memory from years ago when Akonaho was 8 years old. It showed his father wanting to kill him because he thought he would bring misfortune to the kingdom. The father's eyes filled with madness he said, "My dear son you don't have to worry, it won't take time, you will only feel pain for only few seconds, and it will be done. You weren't supposed to be born in the first place. This bloodline was supposed to end long before. We will both die now and stop destruction." sobbing while Akonaho was screaming out of fear with a knife held out on his throat. 16 years old Andani while peeping though the window, used his powers to prick the king with a deadly poison and left before anyone could see him. The guards, the king's wife, mother and Andani entered through the door and saw Akonaho standing beside his father's dead body. The king's mother blamed Akonaho and summoned the high priest to block his power as they thought he was a danger to everyone.

Andani was still explaining the situation that happened years ago and he showed no remorse towards his dear nephew, "But some of the things my brother said made no sense, and I realized your birth and this bloodline of ours has something huge stored for us. That's why you've been alive up until now, but it's of no use now since it seems like my brother was just crazy. I thought you might have great powers like the legend Ronewa but you are just a pitiful soul." Akonaho on his knees in pain, getting flashbacks of all good memories he had, everything was dark for him, not even the moon was enough to lighten the world he was on, heartbroken with his uncle's betrayal. He died with a painful heart being betrayed by his uncle. "Onakaho… ... Onakaho I'...ll save you pl… pl… please onakah…" he was pitiful, crying and died while calling out for his wife. Andani burned the bodies of Akonaho and Onakaho and let out the evil laughter.

Twenty-two years later

A boy running at the forest hunting, he was fast, strong, had great eyesight and good hearing. He had long thin dreads and had the most beautiful hazel eyes worth drowning at with thin eyebrows. He was tall, had a good physique with broad shoulders, and brown-skinned like caramel with almond eyes. He shot a deer with his arrows, smiled with relief to have caught dinner for his family and prayed to let the spirit find its way, and he headed back home. He said joyful, "Aunt, look what I have today, we are all feasting. Is Uncle back yet? And where is my younger brother. He's always lazing around. He should come with me hunting next time." "Well, you are the one who spoiled him, now you are complaining", the woman was joking around with him. She said to him seeing him being in a haste, "Rendani be careful, where are you rushing to, you're always in a hurry" he said he'll be back he forgot something. The maid Sarah raised Rendani, got married to a nice man and gave birth to a boy Rabe, whom Rendani called him his younger brother. They were living in a faraway place from the Kingdom, and they had been living peacefully.

At the Kingdom of Azani there seemed to be trouble since there had not been a King yet. Andani thought it would be easy after Akonaho's death, but it seemed like he needed to work hard for his goals to succeed. The ministers obviously didn't want to be led by an illegitimate prince, but he had been on standby ever since. The problem was that he didn't have the spirited stone inside of him that Akonaho had. The stone had much power, it was believed that soon enough God would bless a person with that spirited stone, who would lead the Kingdom. Akonaho got the stone from his father, and it seemed the day he died he hid it so that no one ever found it. The Kingdom was in shambles without its rightful owner. Will he find his path or destiny will drag him?
