Chapter 92 - Chapter 93 . Life is tough

Chapter 93 . Life is tough

On a street in Berlin, small groups of people gathered, watching a street performer showcasing magic.

The performer looked quite old, his face bearing the marks of time, but his posture remained upright. He wore the black top hat typical of street magicians, and even in summer, he wore a long black overcoat, exuding a true magician's air.

His initial magic tricks were similar to those of other magicians: he pulled a rabbit from his hat, then put it back, making it disappear.

He then conjured a handful of ribbons from his hat and scattered them around, eliciting cheers from the children.

  Finally, he did something unique.

With a snap of his fingers, an orchid suddenly bloomed in his palm, which he then gave to a little girl beside him.

The girl excitedly screamed to her mother,

  "Mommy! That's magic!"

"This is called a magic baby, not magic," her mother explained.

"No! This is magic!" the little girl insisted.

Professor Fox crouched down, smiling, and patted her head.

"Yes, you're right, this is magic."

"See, Mom! Even the magician says so!" the girl turned to argue with her mother.

The girl's mother smiled apologetically at Professor Fox.

After the performance, Professor Fox tipped his hat to the surrounding audience in a gentlemanly gesture.

By this time, a considerable crowd had gathered, applauding Professor Fox's performance and placing money in his hat.

The street performance was quite a success.

After the crowd dispersed, before Professor Fox could even tally his earnings for the day, an owl suddenly flew towards him.

A letter was tossed in front of him.

He picked it up, glanced at it, and a smile crept onto his lips.

It was a letter from his prized student, Lynn, inquiring about dark magic recorded in a book in his home.

Professor Fox tidied his things, preparing to find a place to write a reply to his student.

The owl that delivered the letter had probably been ordered by its master to follow Professor Fox, waiting for him to finish writing the reply before taking it back.

Just as he passed a deserted alley, two strange men in robes emerged from the shadows.

  One of them coldly said,

"Adrian Fox, you are suspected of violating the International Secrecy Act. Please cooperate with us."

Professor Fox had clearly encountered them before and didn't seem particularly surprised.

"I've already explained to you that they believe I used magic, not sorcery. I haven't leaked any information about the wizarding world,"

the other man said coldly, having already drawn his wand.

"You just clearly admitted to a Muggle child that you used magic."

"You're not even half my age, so why are you so stubborn? I was just coaxing a child!"

Both Aurors from the German Ministry of Magic raised their wands.

"You can wait until the Inquisition to explain to the Judge,"

Professor Fox said, raising his hands as if resigned.

"Alright, alright, I'm really scared of you guys."

But the next moment, with a "snap," he suddenly vanished!

Somewhere a thousand miles away, Professor Fox, who had suddenly appeared, straightened his trench coat, somewhat worried about whether Lynn's owl could still find him.

But he had to find another place.

Making a living by using real magic as fake magic was bad enough, but now he was being hunted by the local Ministry of Magic.

  Sigh, life is tough.

He put his top hat back on, strode forward, across vast fields, the wind billowing his coat, and continued his journey.

  ...

During the summer holidays, Hermione visited Lynn's house almost every day. Mr. Granger was very unhappy about this, but couldn't bring himself to confine his daughter at home.

Lynn hadn't intended to hide Kira and Umaru's existence from Hermione, nor could he.

He told her the truth: he later learned that he was actually a second-generation wizard, Kira was a house-elf left to him by his parents, and Umaru was his cousin.

Because Lynn usually took good care of Kira's life, not letting it live in any shabby places but giving it its own room, and even providing it with a robe-like "sheet" instead of the previous rags, Hermione didn't seem to mind. She simply assumed that house-elves in wizarding families held a similar status to butlers in wealthy households.

What surprised Hermione, however, was that Umaru, the hamster, had become Lynn's cousin.

She didn't know about Animagus magic, only about Transfiguration, and assumed Umaru had transformed from a human into a hamster using Transfiguration.

From their first meeting, she and Umaru got along very well; after all, everyone loves a cute mascot. The sweets Hermione brought on her first visit left a deep impression on Umaru, who used great willpower to save a bite for Lynn. From then on, she looked forward to Hermione's visits every day… bringing her food.

Hermione's magical talent was indeed remarkable.

These were minor spells recorded in spellbooks, exclusively certified by Lynn. She could basically learn them by herself just by reading them; all she lacked was a little skill in spell recitation and wand wielding.

Lynn could teach her all of that.

  "It's not that hard,"

Hermione said smugly, looking at the cup she'd turned pink.

"Because these are just some low-level spells," Lynn bluntly retorted.

  Hermione was unconvinced.

"Then show me what a proper spell is!"

  Lynn shook his head.

"Not now. You'll see tomorrow at Hogwarts." Even

after his magic power reached 9, Lynn hadn't yet tested the effects of increased magic.

He estimated that a normal wizard's magic power was around 7.

Those with higher power might have 9 or 10.

He didn't dare guess at those higher, like Voldemort or Dumbledore; they might have already broken through 10.

In other words, judging from his magical power index, Lynn has now surpassed the level of a normal adult wizard.

The strength of his spells is significantly greater than when he was a first-year student.

Tomorrow is the official start of school, and Lynn still hasn't received a reply from Professor Fox. This makes him curious about where Professor Fox has gone on his travels; almost two whole months have passed without a single word.
