Anne looked at her. "That depends upon the favour."
Penelope smiled. "Nothing particularly troublesome."
She nodded, looking entirely dutiful. "Then I shall be happy to help if I can."
Penelope glanced toward the door. "I should like to speak with Doctor Henry before I leave, of course. But I was wondering whether you might inform me when he is likely to be occupied elsewhere."
Anne's brows drew together. "Occupied elsewhere?"
"Yes," She said, and added, "He mentioned that he had several patients to attend to today." She lied.
Her expression switched to an immediate understanding. "He does, Miss. There are always patients who require his attention."
Penelope nodded. "Precisely," She said, and adjusted the sleeve of her gown. "And I should not wish to interrupt him unnecessarily. He has already been exceedingly kind to me."
Anne smiled. "I am certain he would not consider your presence an interruption."
"Perhaps not. But I should prefer to avoid being a nuisance."
