Loreen's POV
Loreen sat in the corner of the king's office and watched the room fill up with people he had not expected to see together in one place before noon.
The Lord Justiciar was already seated when Loreen arrived, a broad and serious man who had held his position for longer than Loreen had been alive and carried himself accordingly.
The High Priest sat beside him, robes arranged carefully, hands folded on the table with the practised patience of a man accustomed to waiting for things to begin.
Edgar was at his usual spot near the wall behind the king, with his papers.
A handful of lords occupied the remaining chairs, some of whom Loreen recognised immediately and some of whom he had to place by name after a moment.
After Loreen took over as regent, he had kept his distance from most of the lords and officials who filled the room.
