Loreen's POV
The door opened and Marsden came in. Behind him a kitchen staff member wheeled a cart through to the dining area and began setting food out on the table.
Marsden looked at Loreen and winked, but Loreen rolled his eyes and ignored him. He was not in the mood for the beta's antics.
"Would you like me to remain and serve you, Your Highness?" the kitchen servant asked.
"No," Loreen said. "You can go. Marsden will handle it."
The kitchen servant bowed and left without another word. The moment the door closed behind him, Marsden turned and looked at Loreen slowly. "I beg your pardon," he said.
"You heard me," Loreen replied.
"I am your aide," Marsden said. "Not a serving boy."
"You are many things, Marsden," Loreen said. "Tonight you are also the person serving dinner."
Marsden looked at him. Then he looked at Kaid. Kaid looked at the wall.
"Kaid," Marsden muttered.
"Do not look at me," Kaid replied.
