Loreen's POV
His father placed a hand on his shoulder. "You are not able to read minds, Loreen," he said. "Do not put this on yourself."
"No, father," Loreen muttered. "I know."
He leaned forward and rested his arms on his knees and looked at the floor. "But Sairis did not trust me enough to tell me and that says alot. He made a decision on his own, one that was supposed to protect me, and he was going to disappear without giving me the chance to say anything about it."
He shook his head slowly. "That is what is sitting with me right now. Not the pregnancy. Not any of it. Just the fact that he did not trust me enough to protect him too."
His father was quiet for a moment. "You are certain about that," he said. "That it was about trust."
Loreen looked at the floor. "What else would it be," he said.
"It could be fear," his father said simply. "Those are not the same thing."
Loreen said nothing.
