Loreen's POV
Sera looked at Loreen, then at the king, and sighed loudly. "A fever this high is dangerous," she said.
"Not just for the omega but for the child as well. I need to bring it down quickly." She was already moving back to her bag as she spoke.
Loreen swallowed. "You said he is pregnant," he said in a low voice.
Sera stopped what she was doing. She looked up at him and then at the king and then back at Loreen and something shifted in her expression.
She cursed under her breath. "From your reaction," she said carefully, "I am going to assume that you were not aware of this."
Loreen opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out.
His father cleared his throat from the other side of the bed. "I believe the omega would have preferred that information to remain private, senior midwife," he said.
His voice was calm and even and carried the particular weight of a king who was making a point without raising his voice.
