Loreen's POV
The manager's mouth moved. "I," he started. His voice came out thin. "I do not know what I am being charged with, your highness. I have not done anything."
Loreen looked at him. "Nothing," he repeated. "You have done nothing."
"Nothing that warrants this," the manager said, his eyes fixed on the blade at his neck.
Loreen looked at him. "Then let me remind you," he said. "A few days ago, a man came into this granary asking questions. He was doing nothing more than his work. And you put your hands on him and grabbed him hard enough to leave marks on his arm that were still visible the following day."
He held the man's gaze without blinking. "That man is was sent here by me, your regent. And you touched him."
The manager swallowed. The movement was visible against the blade at his neck. It was very clear that the man knew exactly who and what Loreen was talking about.
