Loreen's POV
The royal constabulary was already at the granary when Loreen arrived.
Constables were posted at every entrance and along the outer walls, standing at attention with the quiet readiness of people who had been briefed and were waiting for the next instruction.
Loreen looked at it as he walked up and turned briefly to Kaid. "You called them here?" he said.
"Yes, your highness," Kaid said. "Since the granary sits outside the palace grounds, it falls under the constabulary's reach. I sent word early and asked them to hold the place and keep everyone inside until we arrived."
Edgar cleared his throat. "Since you have this place well in hand, I would like your permission to leave and attend to other matters," he said.
Loreen turned to look at him. "Are you running away from handling criminal matters," he said.
Edgar rolled his eyes. "No," he said. "Why would I."
