Charles spun around, pacing the small living room. He was raging, his face turned bright red under the crappy buzzing lightbulb. "Are you out of your mind, Eli? Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you?" he shouted, turning on me. "After everything? I spent the entire week warning you about those people! I literally went to that mansion, to grab your belongings, and now you go and bring him right to my doorstep!"
"Charles, it's not what it looked like…" I tried to explain, stepping closer to him, feeling my throat tighten.
