Chapter 1 - The Unexpected Meeting

The next morning, the city looked completely different.

The rain from the previous evening had washed the streets clean, and the fresh sunlight made everything shine softly. People walked through the streets with busy steps, beginning another normal day.

Daniel opened the door of the small bookstore where he worked.

The familiar smell of books filled the air. It was his favorite part of the day.

He turned on the lights and began arranging the books on the shelves. The bookstore was quiet in the morning, which allowed him to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

But his mind was not completely focused on work.

For some reason, he kept thinking about Emma.

Her smile.

Her voice.

And the way they had walked together under the umbrella.

Daniel shook his head slightly and laughed to himself.

"It was just a small coincidence," he whispered.

Still, the memory of that evening felt strangely warm.

Hours passed as customers slowly came and left the bookstore. Some people bought novels, others asked for recommendations.

Daniel enjoyed helping them, as always.

But something unexpected happened around noon.

The small bell above the bookstore door rang.

Daniel looked up.

And then he froze.

Standing near the entrance was Emma.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Then Emma smiled.

"Well… this is surprising."

Daniel laughed in disbelief.

"What are the chances?"

Emma walked further inside the bookstore, looking around the shelves.

"I was walking nearby and saw this bookstore," she explained. "I like reading, so I thought I should come in."

Daniel felt a small sense of happiness.

"So you found my workplace."

Emma picked up a novel from one of the shelves.

"You work in a beautiful place," she said. "I could stay here for hours."

Daniel nodded.

"Many people do."

They both laughed.

Emma walked slowly through the store, examining different books. Daniel followed her, recommending a few titles he thought she might like.

After a while, she stopped near the romance section.

"Which one is your favorite?" she asked.

Daniel thought for a moment before picking up a book.

"This one," he said.

Emma looked at the cover curiously.

"Why this one?"

Daniel smiled slightly.

"Because it says something interesting."

"What?"

"That sometimes love appears when you least expect it."

Emma looked at him quietly for a moment.

Then she smiled again.

"That sounds familiar."

Daniel felt slightly embarrassed.

Maybe she was thinking about the rainy evening too.

Emma eventually chose a book and walked toward the counter.

As Daniel scanned the book, she said something that surprised him.

"Are you free this evening?"

Daniel looked up.

"Why?"

Emma shrugged slightly.

"Well… you helped me yesterday in the rain. I thought maybe I could return the favor."

Daniel raised an eyebrow.

"How?"

"There's a small café near the park," Emma said. "I was planning to go there after work."

She paused.

"You could join me if you want."

Daniel tried to act calm, but inside he felt nervous.

He had not been invited like this in a long time.

But something about Emma made it easy to say yes.

"I would like that," he replied.

Emma smiled brightly.

"Then it's a plan."

She paid for the book and walked toward the door.

Before leaving, she turned around.

"Don't be late," she said playfully.

The bell rang again as she stepped outside.

Daniel stood behind the counter for a moment.

His quiet life suddenly felt a lot more interesting.

Maybe… just maybe…

The story he had always read about in books was beginning to happen in his own life.

And somewhere deep inside, Daniel had a feeling that this story was only just beginning.
