Lance currently had a massive headache. He had absolutely no idea how to deal with this guy calling himself Sebastian. He had never even heard of a figure like this existing.
To train Dark-type Pokémon to this terrifying extent... This Sebastian was definitely the first of his kind. Sure, Karen from Johto could be considered one, but she was only at the Elite Four level.
Staring at the Absol beside Ash, Lance pulled out a Poké Ball and threw it. "Go, Dragonite! Use Hyper Beam!"
"Roar!"
The instant Dragonite appeared, it unleashed a devastating Hyper Beam straight at Ash and his team. Facing the incoming blast, Absol fired a Dark Pulse right back at Dragonite's attack.
The two beams collided mid-air, causing a colossal explosion. Ash then commanded Absol, "Careful, this Dragonite should be his ace. Watch out for its punches, and use Ice Beam to deal with it."
"Absol!"
Absol nodded, then dashed rapidly toward Dragonite, firing an Ice Beam as it moved.
"Dodge it, Dragonite!"
Seeing Absol's Ice Beam, Lance's expression changed drastically. Even though Absol wasn't an Ice-type, it was a Champion-level powerhouse on par with his Dragonite. There was no way Lance was going to let his Dragonite tank an attack that dealt four times the damage.
Dragonite obediently dodged the Ice Beam and retaliated with a Dragon Pulse. Absol immediately countered with its own Dark Pulse.
BOOM!
As the two attacks collided, another explosion rocked the sky. While Dragonite was staring at the smoke from the blast, a barrage of air blades suddenly shot out of the smoke cloud, aiming straight for its wings. Faced with the sudden ambush, Dragonite didn't panic. Its fists ignited with flames, and it punched away every single air blade.
"Razor Wind... It was charging it up ever since the last clash, huh... But what's the point?"
Watching Absol continuously launch Razor Winds using its horn, Lance fell into deep thought. While Razor Wind had a high critical-hit ratio, it was barely a threat to his Dragonite. Those air blades weren't even enough to make Dragonite flinch.
"Dragonite, don't drag out the fight! Use Thunder Wave!"
"Roar!"
Following Lance's order, Dragonite unleashed a Thunder Wave at Absol. Seeing the paralyzing attack, Absol executed a rapid evasive maneuver. After all, in a high-level battle like this, getting paralyzed meant becoming a sitting duck on a chopping block.
But right in the split second Absol dodged, Dragonite closed the distance and landed a brutal Fire Punch squarely on Absol's body.
"Absol!"
Struck by the Fire Punch, Absol let out a cry of pain. But immediately after, it clamped its jaws onto Dragonite and unleashed Psycho Cut.
Dragonite was continuously slashed by the psycho blades... But Dragonite wasn't about to just let Absol have its way. Thus, Dragonite unleashed Thunderbolt, continuously electrocuting Absol.
The battle between the two Pokémon was incredibly brutal. Every single Psycho Cut from Absol tore through Dragonite's skin. Meanwhile, Dragonite's Thunderbolt relentlessly shocked Absol. Even though both Pokémon were in excruciating pain, neither showed any intention of letting go.
Absol held onto Dragonite in a death grip with its jaws, while Dragonite tightly bear-hugged Absol. Both Pokémon continuously attacked their enemy while enduring massive damage. Right as the two Pokémon were locked in a stalemate, Lance and Ash roared simultaneously: "Now! Use Dragon Tail!" / "Now! Use Dark Pulse!"
Hearing their commands, Dragonite immediately swept its tail at Absol, while Absol unleashed countless Dark Pulses radiating from its body.
BOOM!
As the two attacks struck their respective targets, both Absol and Dragonite plummeted from the sky.
Seeing this, Ash and Lance ran toward their respective Pokémon. Ash caught the falling Absol directly with his sheer physical strength, while Lance sent out two Dragonair to catch Dragonite's descending body using their powers.
Looking at Lance across from him, Ash silently fed Absol a top-tier medicine pill he had made himself. After swallowing the pill, Absol's injuries healed at a terrifyingly visible speed.
"You alright?"
"Absol!" (I'm fine!)
Absol rapidly recovered to its peak condition thanks to Ash's pill, then glared at Lance. Seeing Ash completely heal Absol with a single pill, Lance's expression changed.
He could tell that Ash's Absol had genuinely fully recovered, even faster than he was currently healing his Dragonite using his Viridian power. Furthermore, he could feel Absol's emotions—the sheer desire to help the masked man defeat him.
"Hmph... what an interesting opponent! Dragonite, use Fire Blast on Absol! Dragonair, Double Twister on Houndoom and Mightyena!"
Although he found things interesting, Lance knew this wasn't the time to keep dragging the battle out. Therefore, he directly unleashed his killer moves, intending to decide the victor in one fell swoop.
Watching the approaching Twisters and Fire Blast, a bizarre smile appeared beneath Ash's mask. Then, under everyone's watchful eyes, a strange purple light radiated from Ash's body. The exact same light appeared on Houndoom, Absol, and another Pokémon that had been hiding in the shadows.
"Finish them."
With a snap of Ash's fingers, three pillars of light shot into the sky from Absol, Houndoom, and the forest. Then, three figures suddenly dashed out of the light pillars.
One figure sliced a Twister apart, another shattered the second Twister, and the final figure completely crushed Dragonite's Fire Blast.
Subsequently, Mega Absol, Mega Houndoom, and Mega Beedrill appeared before everyone. They were the ones who had just utterly destroyed Lance's attacks.
Seeing these never-before-seen forms of the three Pokémon, everyone—still completely unaware of Mega Evolution—fell into a stunned daze.
"ROAR!!!"
Just as everyone was paralyzed by the unprecedented situation, Mega Houndoom and Mega Absol roared in unison and rapidly charged at the two Dragonair, their bodies radiating a black aura.
"Hell! Double Crunch!"
"ROAR!!!"
Accompanied by the phantoms of two hellish beasts, the two Dragonair were defeated amid screams of pain. Meanwhile, Mega Beedrill locked its gaze onto Dragonite; it knew this was its greatest opponent yet!
