Chapter 25 - chapter 24:Carter Circle Awakening“Return What Was Lost”

The rain had stopped.

But the air still felt heavy.

Like the storm hadn't really left.

Inside the cave—

The spirits hadn't faded yet.

A new presence stepped forward.

Older.

Stronger.

A woman formed from light—

Her eyes calm, but powerful.

Zoe whispered—

"…Carter."

The spirit nodded slowly.

"You called… and we answered."

Eva and Lana stood still.

Watching.

Waiting.

The Carter spirit looked at them both.

"You crossed death once."

A pause.

"You cannot return the same way again."

Lana shook her head softly.

"We know."

The spirit stepped closer.

The air shifted again.

Deeper.

Older.

"Harper Circle gave you passage."

"Pierce Circle gave you power."

A pause.

Then—

"Carter Circle… gives life."

Everyone froze.

Lucas stepped forward instantly.

"…So bring them back."

The spirit raised her hand slightly.

"Not without cost."

Zoe spoke carefully—

"What kind of cost?"

"Control."

The spirit's voice echoed.

"If they return… their power will rise beyond balance."

A pause.

"They must not use it."

Eva frowned.

"For how long?"

"One full day."

Lana nodded slowly.

"We can do that."

Lucas didn't even wait.

"Great. Done. Let's go."

Velik looked at him.

"…You trust this?"

Lucas answered without hesitation—

"I trust her."

A glance at Eva.

"…That's enough."

The Ritual Begins

The cave changed.

Symbols began forming on the ground—

Faint at first.

Then glowing.

Zoe placed the ancient book at the center.

Her hands steady now.

Stronger than before.

Velik moved quietly, placing ritual objects around the circle.

Ancient.

Symbolic.

Not normal things—

But things that felt connected to life and death.

A carved bone relic.

A dark liquid in a glass vial.

Burning herbs that released thick, silver smoke.

And a small obsidian bowl filled with ash.

The Carter spirit spoke—

"Life must remember you."

"And you must accept it."

Zoe, Eva, and Lana stepped into the circle.

The wind returned.

Not outside.

Inside the cave.

Spinning.

Pulling everything inward.

Zoe began chanting—

Her voice stronger than ever before.

"From silence… to breath…

from shadow… to form…

what was lost…

returns once more…"

The symbols on the ground ignited.

Soft light turning into something brighter.

Eva's body flickered.

Lana's form trembled.

Zoe's voice rose—

But suddenly—

She gasped.

Blood slipped from her nose again.

Nora shouted—

"Zoe!"

Velik held her back again.

"Let her finish."

Zoe continued—

Stronger.

Even in pain.

"Carter blood… Carter name…

bind the soul… restore the frame…

breath to body… heart to flame…

return them now… from where they came…"

The cave exploded with light.

Blinding.

Overwhelming.

The Return

Then—

Silence.

The light faded slowly.

Eva collapsed to her knees.

Gasping.

Real breath.

Real air.

Lana did the same.

Her hands touching the ground—

Feeling it.

Alive.

Nora stepped forward first.

"Lana…?"

Lana looked up.

And smiled.

"I'm here."

Zoe dropped to the ground.

Exhausted.

But smiling.

"It worked…"

Lucas & Eva

Lucas didn't move at first.

Like he didn't trust it.

Then—

Slowly—

He walked toward Eva.

She looked up at him.

Soft smile.

"Hi."

That was it.

Lucas pulled her into a tight hug.

Strong.

Real.

Not letting go.

No jokes.

No words.

Just holding her.

Like if he loosened his grip—

She would disappear again.

Eva closed her eyes.

Holding him back.

"…I'm not going anywhere."

Lucas whispered quietly—

"…You better not."

Final Note

The Carter spirit faded slowly.

But her voice remained—

"Remember the balance…"

"Or next time… there will be nothing left to return."

The wind stopped.

The cave went still.

But this time—

It wasn't empty.

They were all still there.

Together.

Alive.

The Deal in the Dark

The cave finally went quiet.

Too quiet.

Eva and Lana sat against the stone wall, still weak from the ritual.

Breathing slowly.

Alive.

Lucas leaned against the wall—

Then suddenly—

He dropped to the ground.

"OH—"

Julien grabbed his head at the same time.

"…What the hell—"

They both looked at each other.

Realization hit.

Lucas groaned dramatically.

"How the hell did we forget…"

A pause.

"…we're vampires?"

Julien sighed, annoyed.

"We haven't fed."

Lucas pointed weakly toward Zoe.

"You witchy witches…"

He shook his head.

"You bring people back from the dead but forget basic vampire maintenance?"

Zoe rolled her eyes.

"Shut up, Lucas."

Velik stepped forward, serious again.

Looking at Eva and Lana.

"You two should not leave this cave."

His voice was firm.

"Aeron is still out there."

Lana shook her head immediately.

"No."

Everyone looked at her.

"He won't come just for them," she said quietly.

"He'll come for all of us."

A pause.

"So no one goes alone."

And then—

A voice.

From outside.

"Too late for that."

Everyone froze.

At the entrance of the cave—

Aeron Vex stood.

Rain behind him.

Darkness around him.

Watching.

"You both came back."

His eyes moved to Eva and Lana.

"Interesting."

Lucas slowly stood up.

Weak—but still himself.

"Oh great."

"Creepy shadow man is back."

Aeron stepped slightly closer.

"Now I can use what you are…"

A pause.

"…to build something greater."

Lucas blinked.

Then frowned.

"You're not serious, right?"

Aeron didn't react.

Lucas scoffed.

"You want a kingdom?"

A pause.

He smirked.

"You idiot, we have a president."

"Not kings and queens."

"Update yourself."

Zoe almost laughed despite the tension.

Aeron's gaze shifted.

Not to Lucas.

Not to Julien.

To Nora.

The air changed.

Sharper.

Colder.

"Not you."

He said slowly.

"I want her."

Nora's expression hardened instantly.

"…Not happening."

But Aeron didn't move.

Didn't argue.

He just looked at her—

Like he already knew something.

And for a moment—

Something felt off.

Familiar.

Too familiar.

Lana noticed it.

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

Because she knew.

She had seen him before.

Not like this.

But something about him…

felt like Nora.

And she said nothing.

Aeron spoke again—

"One more thing."

A pause.

"Come to Ashwood Bar."

His eyes stayed on Nora.

"Alone."

Silence.

Then—

He was gone.

After He Leaves

Everyone started speaking at once—

"What was that—"

"No way—"

"This is a trap—"

Julien stepped forward instantly.

"No one is going."

"That's not even a question."

Lana looked at Nora.

Then at Eva.

Something clicking in her mind.

Eva spoke first.

Calm.

Thinking.

"I think…"

A pause.

"…he wants her alive."

Julien snapped.

"That doesn't make it safe!"

Nora stepped back.

"What the hell—no."

"I'm not going anywhere."

Velik raised his hand.

Stopping everyone.

"We don't have a choice."

Silence.

Zoe frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Velik looked at Nora.

"If we ignore him…"

A pause.

"…he will choose someone else."

That hit.

Hard.

Lucas exhaled slowly.

"…Yeah, that sounds like him."

Velik continued—

"So we control the situation."

He turned to Zoe.

"You protect her."

Then to Nora.

"You go."

A pause.

"Stay at least one hour."

Julien shook his head.

"This is insane."

Velik looked at him.

"No."

"It's strategy."

Then—

He turned to Lucas.

"You stay here."

Lucas frowned.

"…Why me?"

Velik gave him a look.

"Because you're barely standing."

Lucas rolled his eyes.

"Rude."

Velik continued—

"Julien and I will go out."

A pause.

"Find what you both need."

Julien nodded slightly.

Still tense.

Still not liking it.

Lana stepped closer to Nora.

Softly—

"Go."

Nora looked at her.

Conflicted.

"Why are you so sure?"

Lana didn't answer fully.

Just said—

"…Because I've seen worse."

Eva stepped forward.

"I'll be here."

A small smile.

"You won't be alone."

Nora exhaled sharply.

"…This is a bad idea."

Lucas smirked slightly.

"Yeah."

"But you look cool doing it."

Nora glared at him.

"Shut up."

Zoe stepped forward.

Her eyes glowing faintly.

"I'll protect you."

The air around Nora shifted.

Soft.

Magical.

Shielding.

Velik nodded.

"It's time."

Outside—

The storm had stopped.

But something else had begun.

Because now—

Nora was walking straight into it.
