Chapter 24 - Chapter 23: Voices Beyond

The rain started without warning.

Heavy.

Relentless.

The cave stood hidden deep inside the forest near Harper Circle.

Old.

Ancient.

Like it had been waiting.

Lightning flashed across the sky.

Thunder followed instantly.

Inside the cave—

Zoe stood in the center.

A worn, ancient book open in her hands.

Its pages trembling in the wind.

Velik stood behind her.

Calm.

Watchful.

"This is not a small ritual," he said quietly.

Zoe didn't look at him.

"I know."

Nora stood close.

Nervous.

"What if something goes wrong?"

Lucas leaned against the cave wall.

"…Then we'll just pretend it didn't happen."

No one laughed.

Julien looked at Zoe.

"Are you sure about this?"

Zoe took a deep breath.

"No."

A pause.

"But I'm doing it anyway."

The Ritual Begins

The wind outside grew louder.

Pushing into the cave.

Circling.

Listening.

Zoe raised her hand.

Her voice steady—

But heavy.

Ancient.

"Spirits beyond the veil…

hear the call of blood and bond…

those lost between breath and silence…

return… just once… beyond the dark…"

The cave lights flickered.

The fire dimmed.

The air dropped cold.

Zoe's body trembled.

Her grip tightening on the book.

"We do not command…

we do not bind…

we only ask…

let their voices find us…"

Suddenly—

She gasped.

A thin line of blood slipped from her nose.

Nora stepped forward.

"Zoe—stop—"

Velik held her back.

"Don't interrupt."

The wind roared now.

Rain crashing harder outside.

Like the world itself was responding.

Zoe's voice grew stronger—

But strained.

"Lana…

Eva…

if you can hear me…

come back to us…"

The Presence

Silence.

For one second.

Then—

A soft glow formed in the cave.

Faint.

Flickering.

And slowly—

A figure appeared.

Lana.

She stood there.

Calm.

Peaceful.

Not broken.

Not hurt.

Just… there.

Nora's breath stopped.

"Lana…"

Lana smiled softly.

"You guys did your best."

Nora ran forward—

Tears falling instantly.

"Are you okay?!"

Lana nodded gently.

"Yes."

A pause.

"I'm not in pain anymore."

Her eyes softened.

"I can be with you… in a different way now."

Nora broke down completely.

"I'm sorry…"

Lana shook her head.

"No."

"You were never the reason."

Eva Returns

Lucas stepped forward slowly.

"…Where is Eva?"

Silence.

Then—

A soft touch.

On his back.

Lucas froze.

Slowly turned.

And there she was.

Eva.

Standing behind him.

Faint.

Glowing slightly.

But smiling.

"You really cried for me?"

A small teasing smile.

"Didn't expect that from you."

Lucas stared at her.

Speechless.

For once.

"…You're annoying," he whispered.

Eva laughed softly.

"And you like me."

Lucas tried to pull her into a hug—

But his arms passed through her.

Eva's smile softened.

"I'm just a spirit now…"

For a moment—

No one spoke.

They just looked at her.

Like they didn't want to blink.

The Truth

Lana stepped forward slightly.

Her expression changing.

More serious now.

"We can't kill him."

Silence.

Julien frowned.

"…Aeron?"

Lana nodded.

"He's not something that can be destroyed."

Eva continued—

"But we can stop him."

Zoe looked up.

"How?"

Lana answered softly—

"Take his power."

Eva added—

"And put him to sleep."

The cave fell silent again.

But this time—

Not empty.

Focused.

Final Moment

Lucas looked at Julien.

Then smirked slightly.

"…You've got a smart girlfriend."

Julien sighed.

"Now is not the time."

Lucas shrugged.

"Still true."

For the first time since everything—

A small laugh escaped the group.

Weak.

But real.

Outside—

The rain slowly softened.

The wind calmed.

Inside the cave—

Two worlds stood together.

For one moment.

Before time pulled them apart again.
