The next few weeks flew by in a fast, blurry rush, just like leaves blowing in a strong wind.
Lexianna spent almost all her time in her big, warm bedroom. Her stomach did not just grow a little bit; it popped out until it looked like she was hiding a giant, perfectly round watermelon under her soft dresses.
The baby was getting very big and very strong. But growing a magical baby was incredibly hard work. The little one was like a hungry little battery, constantly drinking up all of Lexianna's shiny silver Fox magic.
Because the baby took so much energy, Lexianna felt sleepy all the time. She took four naps a day. She could not walk very fast anymore. Instead of her usual quick, bossy steps, she had to do a slow, funny little waddle just to get across the room.
And at night, the big mystery continued.
