The two long, boring weeks of bed rest were finally almost over. Lexianna only had one day left before the Healer would let her leave the bedroom.
But Lexianna did not feel happy. She felt very scared.
The whole giant stone palace felt completely different. The air inside the hallways was no longer warm and cozy. Instead, it felt incredibly heavy and thick. Walking around the room felt like trying to walk through a swimming pool full of sticky honey. Breathing felt hard, like someone was pressing a heavy pillow over the whole castle.
The atmosphere was suffocating.
Even the servants felt it. Everyone was acting very nervous. The cooks in the kitchen kept dropping metal pots, making loud clang sounds that made everyone jump. The brave palace guards were shivering in their armor, looking up at the sky instead of watching the front gates.
And they were all whispering.
