Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 – Awakening Magic

Aditya crouched behind a glowing moss-covered rock, heart racing. The crystalline creature had retreated, but his pulse hadn't slowed. Something in the air tingled — a hum of energy he had never felt before.

He raised his hands instinctively, testing the air. Nothing. Just the faint glow from the moss and the shimmer of the river. Maybe… maybe this world responds differently.

He remembered army drills: focus, observation, and improvisation. Taking a deep breath, he concentrated, trying to sense the flow of energy around him — how it moved, where it concentrated.

A warmth spread from his chest down to his hands. The floating moss shimmered brighter. Then, without thinking, he extended a finger, and a thin line of glimmering light shot forward, forming a delicate arc. The moss swayed as if pulled by an invisible force.

Aditya's eyes widened. This… is magic?

"Interesting," a soft voice murmured from the shadows. He froze, sensing movement. From behind a massive tree, the watcher stepped closer, but kept the distance. Only a faint silhouette — tall, elegant, and cloaked in shimmering energy. So someone's watching…

The watcher's voice was calm, almost amused. "Clever, transmigrator. Most would panic. Few would adapt so quickly. You feel it… the energy around you. But controlling it… that will take time."

Aditya clenched his fists, a surge of determination rising. He experimented further, combining physics knowledge with this new energy. He calculated angles, distances, and momentum, shaping the light into a rough sling of energy that could knock a small stone across the river.

The watcher tilted their head. Resourceful. Army-trained. Engineering mind intact… perfect candidate.

Aditya exhaled. "So… laptop's dead. Algorithmic Arts gone. Guess I'm doing this the hard way." He smiled faintly. "Let's see how far I can push this magic."

Suddenly, a rustle from the trees. Another magical creature, larger than the first, stepped forward — claws sharp, eyes glowing with raw energy. But Aditya was ready. Using the first sparks of his new magic, he launched a controlled energy arc, startling the creature and giving him time to dodge.

The watcher leaned against a tree, silently observing. This was more than survival — it was adaptation, a skill even more valuable in this world.
