Chapter 4 - 4

Astra's Breakdown

That night inside the academy dormitory, Raizen sat cross-legged on his bed while the sounds of other students echoed through the hallways.

Some were celebrating passing the exam.

Others were already arguing about rankings.

Raizen ignored most of it.

Instead he focused inward.

"Astra."

The AI responded instantly.

"Yes, Raizen."

"Give me a breakdown of the class."

A brief pause passed while Astra processed information gathered throughout the entrance evaluation.

"Analysis complete."

"Your designated class contains 20 students. 8 belong to shinobi clans."

Raizen leaned back slightly.

"Let's hear it."

The Raikose Twins

"First: the twins."

"Clan designation: the Raikose Clan."

Raizen nodded slightly.

That sounded fitting for the Cloud Village.

Astra continued.

"Clan specialization: lightning chakra amplification and high-speed taijutsu."

"Members of this clan train their nervous systems to react faster by channeling low levels of lightning chakra through their muscles."

Raizen raised an eyebrow.

"So they move faster."

"Correct."

"Aikari Raikose."

"Academic ranking: second."

"Combat capability: balanced."

"Daigo Raikose."

"Academic ranking: third."

"Combat capability: higher physical output than his sister."

Astra paused.

"Recommendation: Daigo Raikose will likely challenge you repeatedly."

Raizen smirked.

"Yeah… I figured."

The Goruma Clan

Astra continued.

"Second clan representative: Kento Goruma."

"Affiliation: the Goruma Clan."

Raizen remembered the large boy from the obstacle test.

"Clan specialization: enhanced muscle density and raw physical strength."

"Members typically excel in grappling combat and power-based taijutsu."

Raizen nodded.

"So he's the strength type."

"Correct."

"Recommendation: avoid direct power exchanges."

The Kaminari Clan

"Third clan representative: Sora Kaminari."

"Affiliation: the Kaminari Clan."

Raizen thought for a moment.

"That name sounds familiar."

"Clan specialty: high natural affinity for lightning chakra manipulation."

"Members often develop advanced lightning techniques earlier than other shinobi."

Astra paused briefly.

"Recommendation: expect early ninjutsu proficiency."

The Fubuki Clan

"Fourth clan representative: Mei Fubuki."

"Affiliation: the Fubuki Clan."

Raizen blinked.

"Sensory?"

"Yes."

"Clan specialization: chakra detection and battlefield awareness."

"Recommendation: avoid relying on stealth when facing this individual."

Raizen smiled slightly.

"That's interesting."

Astra's Conclusion

Astra finished her summary.

"Overall class analysis: high competitiveness."

Raizen stretched his arms.

"That's good."

"Optimal growth environment."

After the analysis, Raizen headed to the academy dining hall.

The meal was simple but filling.

Rice.

Vegetables.

Grilled meat.

Students talked loudly around him, but Raizen mostly kept to himself.

Once he finished eating, he returned to the dormitory courtyard.

There he began practicing one of the most basic but important exercises his mother had taught him.

Chakra control.

Raizen balanced a small leaf on his forehead while standing perfectly still.

Slow breathing.

Gentle chakra flow.

Inside his mind Astra monitored.

"Control stability: improving."

Raizen held the position for nearly thirty minutes.

Only after the exercise ended did he return to his room.

He lay down on the bed and stared at the ceiling.

"Astra."

"Yes."

"Wake me up early."

"Affirmative."

Within minutes, Raizen was asleep.

The First Day

Morning arrived quickly.

Raizen woke before sunrise again, following his usual training routine before preparing for class.

Today he wore the academy uniform.

But his was different.

Because he ranked first in the entrance evaluation, he received a special version reserved for the top student of the class.

The uniform was a deep storm-blue jacket trimmed with silver along the shoulders and sleeves.

The collar carried a small embroidered lightning symbol representing the academy's highest scoring student in the class.

When Raizen looked in the mirror, the uniform fit him perfectly.

His calm gray eyes reflected quiet confidence.

His facial features were sharp and balanced for someone his age.

But the most striking detail was his hair.

Short silver dreadlocks fell neatly around his head, shining faintly in the morning light.

The contrast between the silver hair and the dark uniform made him stand out immediately.

Inside his mind Astra commented.

"Visual presentation: highly distinctive."

Raizen chuckled.

"Let's hope it doesn't make me too many enemies."

"Probability: moderate to high."

Observing the Class

When Raizen entered the classroom, most students were already there.

He immediately began observing.

The Goruma boy sat with two other large students, clearly comfortable in a group that valued strength.

Sora Kaminari sat near the window quietly reading a scroll about lightning chakra.

Mei Fubuki spoke calmly with two other students while occasionally scanning the room.

And the twins sat together near the center.

Aikari looked composed as usual.

Daigo looked competitive as ever.

Daigo leaned back in his chair.

"That silver-haired guy."

Aikari raised an eyebrow.

"What about him?"

"He got lucky yesterday."

Aikari gave him a flat look.

"You mean when he beat everyone?"

Daigo frowned.

"It was a fluke."

Aikari crossed her arms.

"Then you should beat him."

"I will."

She tilted her head slightly.

"You should probably beat me first though."

Daigo groaned.

"That's not the same."

Aikari laughed softly.

But when she looked across the room again…

Her eyes landed on Raizen.

He sat calmly, observing the room.

She felt a faint warmth in her cheeks.

He's kind of cute…

But curiosity quickly followed.

The night before, she had asked her clan's information network to look into him.

The results were strange.

Raizen was a civilian-born student.

His mother was a retired chunin who ran a sealing shop.

His father…

Unknown.

Which only made things more confusing.

How does someone like that rank first…?

The Instructor Arrives

The classroom door suddenly slid open.

The instructor walked in with the confident presence of a veteran shinobi.

He turned toward the class.

"I am Instructor Tetsuma."

The room fell silent.

He folded his arms.

"This year you will learn the foundations of becoming shinobi of Kumogakure."

"Combat."

"Chakra control."

"Strategy."

"Team operations."

Then his gaze shifted toward Raizen.

"And congratulations to Raizen."

All eyes turned immediately.

"For ranking first in the entrance evaluation."

A few students looked impressed.

Others looked annoyed.

Instructor Tetsuma smiled slightly.

"And I must say…"

"That number one uniform suits you well."

Several students immediately began whispering.

Envy filled the room.

Exactly as the instructor expected.

He raised a hand.

"And that uniform isn't the only benefit."

The room quieted again.

"The top ranked student receives expanded library access."

Raizen's eyes sharpened slightly.

"And once per week…"

"They receive a dose of Cloud Village enhancement medicine."

The room erupted in surprise.

Tetsuma continued.

"It strengthens the body and improves lightning chakra compatibility."

Now several students looked openly jealous.

He smiled slightly.

"And the top student may also request specialized training per semester."

Even Raizen was slightly surprised by that.

But then the instructor's expression hardened.

"However…"

He pointed toward the ranking board hanging on the classroom wall.

"Your position is not permanent."

"Every month we conduct combat ranking evaluations."

"If someone defeats you…"

"They take your position."

The room suddenly felt much more serious.

"And one more thing."

"This is an elite class."

"If your academic scores fall below acceptable standards repeatedly…"

"You will be removed."

A student raised a hand nervously.

"What counts as failing?"

"Below seventy percent multiple times."

Tetsuma answered calmly.

"One bad score won't remove you."

"But repeated poor performance will send you to the regular academy classes."

He scanned the room slowly.

"So if you want to stay here…"

"Work hard."

Then he glanced once more at Raizen.

"And if you want that uniform…"

"Take it from him."

Several students immediately stared at Raizen again.

This time not with curiosity.

But with competition.

Inside his mind Astra spoke quietly.

"Host has become primary competitive target."

Raizen smiled slightly.

"Good."

Because in a village like Kumogakure…

The only way to grow stronger…

Was to give everyone a reason to chase you.
