She has heard of Xavier from her last life who came from a very prestigious family with a mysterious background.
She even heard that his mother was a princess from Europe,she didn't know much details about that. In her previous life, Xavier established his own company when he graduated from college which became one of the most powerful tech companies both locally and international. She has never heard of any lady by his side which made her wonder if he was gay.
As Angela's thought wandered,she inadvertently met Xavier's deep blue eyes which looked like he could see through her. She averted her eyes in a panic with her heart beating wildly in her chest. She didn't like the feeling of been seen through,it made her feel exposed.
"What's wrong,are you not feeling well?", her best friend and deskmate, Emma asked worriedly after seeing her pale face.
"I'm fine", Angela said waving her hand.
"Are you sure?", Emma asked again "Your face looks pale". She said looking concerned.
"Maybe it's the time of the month, nothing serious", Angela replied.
"Alright if you say so" She replied relief washing over her face then she began to hesitate, as if having something to say.
"What's wrong,do you have something to tell me?", Angela asked when she noticed her hesitation.
"Angie, don't take it the bad way but I think you should be careful of your stepsister, there's something off about her", Emma said with caution as she watched Angela to see her reaction. Angela was stunned.
"I'm not trying to sow discord between you two, I'm just saying you should be careful around her, don't be angry", Emma quickly added when Angela went quiet, thinking she was angry with her.
"I'm not angry, I know you have my interest at heart, thank you", Angela said feeling emotional.
Tears blurred her eyes as she recalled her last life. Emma had warned her like this in her past life but she argued with her thinking she was trying to sow discord between Juliet and her which lead her to personally push the person who was most sincere to her away. Emma didn't give up,she later kept trying to to warn her even when they were not talking, but she was so blind and stupid to listen. It was because of her that Emma later lost her life. Angela felt remorseful as she thought about how her best friend died because of her. She vowed to herself to protect her friend and not let the tragedy repeat itself again.
After lessons, Angela and Emma walked to the cafeteria to get something to eat.
"Since you are not feeling well, you shouldn't take anything cold for now, I'll go get the food so go and find a place for us to sit" Emma said and Angela felt warm. 'This is what we call a real friend, someone who thinks about your health and is sincere to you' Angela thought as she kept listening to Emma's nagging without feeling the slightest bit of impatience.
However, the warm atmosphere was broken by someone whom Angela didn't want to deal with at the moment because she was feeling hungry and didn't have the energy to play with her.
"Sister,why didn't you call me to have lunch, you know I don't know anyone here apart from you and I don't know where the cafeteria is, don't you want to eat with me?", Juliet said with a sobbing voice, putting a pitiful look on her face as if she has been bullied.
'Can't she let me eat in peace' Angela muttered in her heart as she put on a remorseful face. But before she could speak, Emma jumped in, " How can you talk like that,why are you making it sound like we're bullying you? can't you ask someone where the cafeteria is?"
"I'm sorry for bothering you, I know I'm a burden Angela, I'm so sorry" Juliet said on the verge of tears, looking like she's suffered a great injustice and the eyes of the people around us suddenly changed.
'Oh no! people will think we're bullying her ', Angela thought with anger rising in her,' can't she just leave me alone? But I won't let you have your way ', Angela thought with cold smile on her face.
