"Angela,hurry up and join us, we've been waiting for you for a long time, dinner is almost cold", Juliet said while she secretly glanced at Hance to observe his reaction. Hance furrowed his browse lightly. She quickly got excited when she noticed Hance expression but her excitement didn't last long.
"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting,I was doing my homework,I guess sister is already done with hers", Angela said with a smile, although she did her homework at school.
Juliet froze and stuttered," I'll... I'll do it after dinner". She couldn't say she has done her homework because shortly after coming back from school and going to her room to change from her uniform, she came down to the living room and started acting bossy, ordering a maid to bring her fruit while she comfortably sat on the couch to watch TV. She doesn't pretend around the maids in the house because she looks down on them.
"Studying should be your priority,you should do your homework after school before anything else", Hance scolded gently while looking at Juliet with slight disapproval on his face. He witnessed the scene of Juliet watching TV when he came back from work.
"Yes Uncle, I won't let you down", Juliet replied with a forced smile on her face as she humbly lowered her head but her face was twisted viciously. 'Damn this bitch trying to make me look bad in front of uncle ', she thought as she try to control the rage bubbling inside of her.
Angela tried hiding a smile as she walked to her seat. 'You want me to look bad in front of my dad,how does it feel to shoot yourself in your own foot', she thought with a sneer.
"It's all my fault, it's because I couldn't afford to buy a TV after her father passed away so she got carried away", Sophia quickly said with her eyes reddening when she saw things were not looking good for her daughter.
"Mom don't blame yourself,I know it's been hard on you taking care of me alone all these years, I don't blame you ", Juliet also said in a pitiful voice when she realized her mother was giving her a way out.
Hance face softened, "It's been hard on both of you", he said with sympathy in his voice.
Angela sighed as she watched the mother and daughter acting pitiful and were able to gain sympathy from her dad.
'As expected of this old fox, she's more experienced than her daughter and has quickly cleared any disapproval my dad has for Juliet with just a few words, it seems I have a long way to go in exposing their true faces to dad'.
She knew her father wouldn't believe her if she told him about the duo poisoning her mom. She has no evidence and her father might be upset After all,it took a lifetime for her to see the true faces of the mother and daughter, so she decided to slowly expose them.
"Alright let's eat, the food is getting cold", Hance said lightly.
"I know you work hard and you are always exhausted from work, it's not easy running a big company so I personally made this bird nest for you", Sophia said softly while scooping a bowl of soup and passing it gently to Hance.
"Uncle, my mom made sure it stewed for hours and refused to leave the kitchen. She didn't even allow the maids to help her. She insisted on watching over it personally and said you work hard which made me jealous", Juliet said with a pout trying to act like a child.
" You this girl,how can you say that ", Sophia waited for her daughter to finish talking before pretending to scold her. She then turned to Hance and said, " You work so hard and I'm grateful for taking us mother and daughter in, this is the little I could do for you", she said softly as she looked at him with gentle eyes.
" You don't have to work so hard and tire yourself, thank you ", Hance said with a smile on his face.
" I don't feel tired at all, I want you to be comfortable at home after coming back from work ", Sophia said softly. Hance then patted her hand gently.
Angela was about to put the food in her mouth when she paused. She raised her head to look at the scene. 'This old fox never cease to amaze me, she always comes up with a trick. My dad will be completely smitten if this goes on '.
