Two days later, Alexander called Emily into his office.
"We're attending a charity event tonight."
Emily sighed.
"Another fancy party?"
"Yes."
Emily leaned against the desk.
"Do I have to go?"
Alexander looked at her calmly.
"You're my assistant."
Emily crossed her arms.
"You're using me as decoration."
Alexander smirked.
"You're overthinking."
That evening they arrived at a beautiful ballroom filled with music and elegant decorations.
Emily wore another elegant dress.
But this time she felt more confident.
As they entered, people immediately recognized Alexander.
Many guests greeted him.
But Emily noticed something else.
Alexander seemed uncomfortable with the attention.
"You don't like parties," she said quietly.
Alexander glanced at her.
"No."
"Then why attend?"
"Business."
Emily smiled.
"You're a work addict."
Alexander didn't deny it.
Later that evening the music changed to a slow melody.
A dance floor opened in the center of the ballroom.
Alexander suddenly extended his hand.
"Dance with me."
Emily blinked.
"You're serious?"
"Yes."
She hesitated for a moment.
Then she placed her hand in his.
