JAY'S POV:
"Okay!" Ci-N said, slamming his hand on the table. "Operation : Catch the sus detective."
Felix raised his hand. "That name is terrible."
David nodded. "Very terrible."
Raefel snorted.
I sighed. "Can you all focus? My sister was murdered."
Felix leaned back in his chair. "Exactly. Which is why we are helping you prove that Mr.Tall-Handsome-And-Annoying is guilty."
I rolled my eyes so hard that I could have sworn I saw my brains. "His name is Keifer."
Ci-N smirked. "OHHH we know his name! You say it a lot!"
"I do not!"
They all stared at me.
"….Okay maybe a little."
Raefel laughed softly beside me. "Relax guys. Jay Jay just wants justice."
I nodded. "Exactly, and thank YOU!"
Felix leaned forward. "So what's the plan?"
I placed a small notebook on the table.
"We follow Keifer. Watch where he goes. Who he talks to. Everything."
David blink. "So….stalking?"
"Investigation."
"Same thing."
Ci-N suddenly looked out the café window.
"Oh."
"What?" I asked, annoyed.
He slowly pointed.
Outside…walking down the street…
…was Keifer.
My stomach dropped.
Feliz grinned. "Well well well, speak of the devil."
I immediately stood up. "Okay everyone act normal."
Ci-N whispered. "None of us know how to act normal."
Too late.
The café door opened.
And Keifer walked in.
His eyes slowly scanned the room.
Then they stopped on me.
Of course they did.
Asshole. Gago. King of assholes.
A slow smile appeared on his face.
"Well," he said calmly, walking toward our table, "this is interesting."
I crossed my arms with a glare. "What do you want?"
He looked around at my friends.
"Wow," he said. "You brought a whole team."
Felix raised his hand. "HI!!"
David waved awkwardly.
Ci-N whispered loudly, "He's hotter up close."
I kicked him under the table.
Keifer laughed.
"You are spying on me again, Jay."
"I am not spying!"
"Really?"
He leaned down slightly.
His face suddenly much closer to mine.
My heart jumped.
"Because," he said softly, "it looks like you really are."
My face felt warm.
"I am investigating."
He smirked. Annoying smirk. Want to punch it out of his annoyingly handsome face.
"Same difference."
Raefel stood up suddenly.
"Hey man," he said casually. "We are just hanging out." Thank god, helping! Maybe he is the only one who doesn't deserve a punch 😤
Keifer looked at him for a second. Then nodded slowly.
"Right."
But his eyes moved back to me again.
Always back to me.
"You should be careful, Jay," he said.
"Why?"
"Following dangerous peopl can get you into trouble,"
I glared. "You mean like you?"
He smiled innocently. "Exactly like me."
Felix whispered to the others, "This tension is crazy."
I elbowed him making him wince. Well deserved.
Keifer straightened up and put his hands in his pockets.
"Well, have fun with your little detective club."
He started walking away. But then he stopped. Turned slightly to look at me again.
"You are cute when you are angry," he said with a teasing smile.
My jaw dropped.
"WHAT?!"
But he was already leaving.
The café closed.
Silence.
Then Ci-N screamed.
"JAY JAY HE FLIRTED WITH YOU!"
"I KNOW!"
Felix laughed loudly.
David shook his head.
Raefel just smiled calmly.
But inside me…
My heart was beating way too fast.
And I hated it.
