Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 – The Fire Awakens

Scene 1: The Silence After the Explosion

Three days had passed since the laboratory explosion.

They were hiding inside an abandoned factory in the old industrial district of the city. Rusted steel beams. Dust-filled air. Broken windows. Silence.

She was still weakened. The electrical suppression chains had damaged something deep inside her power.

But Ruel—

He was changing.

There was a constant heat building inside his body. Sometimes his fingertips glowed red. When he touched metal, faint burn marks remained.

"Do you feel it?" she asked quietly.

Ruel didn't answer immediately.

"It feels like something is burning inside my chest," he finally said.

She studied him carefully.

"Maybe your father's research wasn't destroyed… maybe it survived."

"In me?" Ruel asked.

She didn't deny it.

Scene 2: Fire in Memory

That night, Ruel stood alone in the center of the factory floor.

He closed his eyes.

And suddenly—

He was back there.

The night of the fire.

His house collapsing.

His mother screaming.

His father shouting:

"Ruel, run!"

Flames surrounded him.

But there was one moment—

The fire had touched him…

And he hadn't burned.

His small hands had glowed faintly.

He had forgotten that memory.

Until now.

Suddenly—

His body trembled.

Lines of fire spread across the concrete floor.

He opened his eyes.

Flames circled him.

But they didn't harm him.

The fire wasn't attacking.

It was responding.

Scene 3: Losing Control

She ran toward him.

"Ruel! Stop!"

"I'm not doing this!" he shouted. "I can't control it!"

The flames climbed up the factory walls.

Steel beams glowed red.

She grabbed his hands firmly.

"Look at me!"

His eyes were fully crimson.

"They made me…" he whispered.

"No," she said firmly. "You are not their creation. You are your own."

His breathing was unstable.

"I'm scared."

She placed her hand on his forehead.

Her own fire ignited—but softer this time.

When their flames touched—

It wasn't a clash.

It was resonance.

Slowly—

The raging fire calmed.

Scene 4: Saif's Design

Elsewhere—

Dr. Saif Rahman stood in a dark control room.

On the monitor in front of him, thermal spikes flickered.

He smiled.

"He's finally awakened."

An assistant asked carefully,

"Sir, should we retrieve him now?"

Saif shook his head.

"No. Let him grow stronger. He will come to us himself."

On the screen, a label flashed:

Subject: R-17 – Active

Scene 5: The Truth Revealed

At dawn, Ruel sat alone.

A small flame danced in his palm.

This time—

He controlled it.

But it wasn't normal fire.

It burned deep crimson.

Black shadows swirled inside it.

"Am I even human?" he asked quietly.

She sat beside him.

"You are human. But you are also more."

"More what?"

She opened the file.

"Project Ash Crown's true purpose was to awaken dormant fire at the genetic level inside select humans."

Ruel stared at her.

"So I'm an experiment?"

She shook her head.

"No. You were something earlier than that. A prototype. Your father discovered the process before they perfected it."

Ruel's voice dropped.

"So this fire… started before that night?"

She nodded.

"Before you were even born."

Scene 6: Full Awakening

Suddenly—

An explosion echoed outside the factory.

Saif's soldiers had found them.

Headlights flooded the broken windows.

Heavy weapons aimed forward.

A voice shouted:

"Subject R-17, surrender immediately!"

Ruel stood.

"No. Not this time."

Gunfire erupted.

Ruel raised his hand.

And something impossible happened—

The bullets froze mid-air.

The atmosphere around him distorted.

His eyes burned bright red.

A circle of fire formed beneath his feet.

He stepped forward slowly.

With each step, cracks formed in the concrete.

One soldier launched a flamethrower blast.

Ruel extended his hand—

The fire bent.

It curved away from him.

He realized something.

He wasn't just creating fire.

He was commanding it.

All of it.

He roared.

Massive wings of flame erupted from his back.

The factory roof shattered open.

The sky above turned red.

The soldiers staggered backward in terror.

She watched him—

A mix of fear and awe in her eyes.

Ruel lowered his hand.

Every flame extinguished instantly.

Only a faint crimson aura remained around him.

The soldiers retreated.

Silence returned.

Scene 7: The King of Fire

She stepped closer.

"You are their greatest fear now."

Ruel looked up at the fractured sky.

There was no confusion in his eyes anymore.

Only resolve.

"Saif wanted to make me a weapon."

He clenched his fist.

"I'll become one. But against him."

In the distance, the city lights shimmered.

For a moment, Saif's earlier word echoed in his mind—

"Evolution."

Ruel whispered back into the night:

"No. Rebellion."

Behind him, faint wings of fire flickered like shadows.

His awakening was complete.

And Arc 2 had truly begun.
