She let out a scream, but it was too late.

The sound made Rosalind Lowell's blood run cold. A bone-deep chill sent her trembling violently. "Zeke Hayes..."
Zeke Hayes gritted his teeth, his face contorted in agony from the broken bone. Large beads of sweat dripped from his brow onto the ground.
He used some nearby junk to haul himself up, then threw a heavy punch straight at the man.
The man probably hadn't expected Zeke to get back up. He staggered from the blow, tossed aside the broken chair, and swung back.
"Ma'am, go now!" Zeke Hayes roared, restraining the man next to him. "I've already notified Mr. Davenport."
Rosalind Lowell struggled to her feet. She was about to run, but she looked back at Zeke Hayes. 'I can't just leave him here alone, can I?'
"Go, quick! You'll be the end of me if you stay."
