The Sniper's Bullet
The red laser dot slowly moved across the wall.
Ryan immediately pulled Ariba down.
"Get down!" he shouted.
A loud gunshot shattered the window.
Glass pieces scattered across the floor.
The sniper had fired.
Ariba's heart pounded wildly.
Ryan quickly dragged her behind the table.
Outside the building, chaos had already started.
Another gunshot echoed.
Ryan whispered, "They're trying to kill us."
Ariba clenched her fists.
"Victor said someone powerful is behind Phoenix…"
Ryan nodded.
"And they don't want us alive."
Suddenly footsteps rushed through the hallway.
The door burst open.
Police officers entered the room.
"Stay down!"
One officer shouted while aiming toward the rooftop.
Within minutes the sniper escaped into the darkness.
Silence slowly returned to the room.
Ariba stood up slowly.
Her mind was racing.
"Someone tried to kill us because we're getting closer to the truth."
Ryan looked at her seriously.
"And whoever it is… they're watching us."
At that moment Ariba's phone vibrated again.
A new message appeared.
Unknown Sender:
"You survived this time."
Ariba's hands tightened.
Another message appeared.
"But the next attack won't miss."
Ryan looked at the phone.
"Looks like the real enemy just declared war."
Outside the window, the city lights flickered again.
And somewhere in the darkness—
Someone was planning the next move.
