Chapter 5 - A Dangerous Lesson

Chapter 4 — Continued: A Dangerous Lesson

Lina sat on the edge of the bed, trying to calm her racing thoughts. But the mansion wasn't quiet for long. A soft tap on the door interrupted her.

"Miss Lina," the butler said, "your next lesson is waiting."

She sighed and followed him down the hall. Her legs felt like lead, but curiosity made her keep moving.

The next room was vast, with a long table covered in documents and ledgers. Adrian was there, standing with arms crossed, as if expecting her to falter.

"Accounting and contracts," he said. "If you are going to live in my world, you must understand it. Every business decision has weight. Every number matters. Weakness is costly."

Lina stared at the piles of papers. She barely understood half of it, but she nodded. "I'll try," she whispered.

"Try isn't enough," Adrian said sharply, his gaze locking onto hers. "Do it correctly, or you don't eat."

The words made her flinch, but she forced herself to focus. She spent hours learning the basics — balancing numbers, reading contracts, even trying to understand his company's business strategies. Every mistake made her cheeks burn. Every success made Adrian glance at her briefly, his unreadable expression sending shivers down her spine.

By the time she was allowed to leave, the sun was dipping below the horizon, casting long shadows across the mansion. Lina's mind was exhausted, but a small spark had begun to grow inside her — a determination she hadn't felt before.

She realized something important: surviving Adrian's world wasn't just about obeying rules or signing contracts. It was about learning, adapting, and standing her ground, even when everything seemed impossible.

That night, as she lay in her luxurious bed, Lina felt a strange mix of fear and excitement. She wasn't just a girl trapped in a contract marriage. She was a player in a dangerous game — and for the first time, she wondered if she had the strength to win.
