Chapter 4 - THIS TIME AROUND

Chapter 4: The Results

The next morning, Amara woke up earlier than usual.

Today was the day the Mathematics Competition results would be announced.

As she got ready for school, she kept thinking about the competition.

What if I didn't win? she wondered.

Then she remembered what she had told herself the day before.

"I did my best," she said quietly.

Author's thought:I could tell that Amara was nervous. She wanted to win, but she was also learning that her effort mattered, no matter what the result was.

When Amara arrived at school, she noticed that everyone was talking about the competition.

"Who do you think will win?" one student asked.

"I don't know," another student replied.

Amara smiled nervously and walked to her classroom.

After the morning lessons, the principal came into the classroom.

"Everyone should gather in the hall. The Mathematics Competition results are ready."

Amara's heart began beating faster.

She walked into the hall with the other students and took her seat.

The hall became quiet when the principal stepped onto the stage with a piece of paper in her hand.

"Good morning, students."

"Good morning, ma!" everyone replied.

"Today, we are here to announce the results of the Mathematics Competition."

Amara held her hands together.

The principal announced the student who came third.

Everyone clapped.

Then she announced the student who came second.

The applause became louder.

Amara wondered who would come first.

The principal smiled and looked at the students.

"And now, for the student who came first in the Mathematics Competition…"

The hall became completely silent.

Amara stopped breathing for a moment.

"The first-place winner is…"

The principal paused.

"Amara!"

For a moment, Amara could not believe what she had heard.

Then the whole hall burst into applause.

"Congratulations, Amara!"

Amara stood up with a huge smile on her face.

Her Mathematics teacher clapped proudly.

"Well done, Amara!" she said.

Amara walked to the stage and received her certificate.

"Thank you, ma," Amara said happily.

As she returned to her seat, her classmates congratulated her.

"You did it!"

"I knew you could do it!"

Amara smiled as she looked at her certificate.

Author's thought:I was so happy for Amara. She had faced a difficult challenge, felt nervous, and still refused to give up. Her success showed that hard work and determination can lead to wonderful results.

Just when Amara thought the day could not get any better, the principal made another announcement.

"Amara, please remain after assembly. I have something important to tell you."

Amara looked surprised.

What could it be? she wondered.

She had no idea that this announcement was going to bring her a new opportunity.
