Today is Valentine's Day, and couples were seen, exchanging gifts, being all lovey - dovey, all of which made me sick as a lone wolf that I am.
I suddenly remembered that my bestie has a stupid boyfriend, so I decided to look for her to see what he got her for Valentine's Day, and to my surprise, I found Mary was crying,so I immediately rushed over,
"Mary what's going on?, why are you crying?,are you in pain?, answer me Mary?!!",
"He.....he....di...d..not....get me a Valentine gift nor did he call me, but his friends said He went out with some girl, Amen wuu, I'm sad",
"It's okay" I said comforting her but inwardly laughing how foolish my 'bestie' could be.
Then as if she could read my mind, She pushed me with all her might, which left me momentarily stunned and she started yelling at me, "It's you, you jinxed my relationship from the start, I don't want to be best friends with you any...", her words were cut off as I silenced her with a slap that left her ears ringing,
"Look and listen to me, I never jinxed anyone's relationship, it's your boyfriend the fault lies with, and you are also to be blamed, none of these would be happening if you had listened to me, don't date Henry Sparks, but no, you were blinded by, infatuation that you no longer knew your left from your right, your current predicament is as a result of your carelessness and stupidity, and since you wanted to say it let me help you, I don't need a stupid friend like you who a word from a guy she looses her composure, if there's anyone jinxing anyone, it's you jinxing me and not the other way round", and with that I turned around and didn't look back for once.
I didn't like it that I slapped her, but I just couldn't help it, infatuation has nearly driven her to madness, and that slap was sure to reset her brain.
For the next few weeks, I didn't see Mary in school, or rather, she was avoiding me, but I didn't care, I told her the truth and nothing but the truth. .Later I heard that Henry cheated on her and she tried to jump off a building, but was saved on time.
One day, She came crying to me
"Ann I'm sorry, ok, Henry..... Henry argh" she growled,
"He almost made me loose my best friend, but that won't happen, Ann I promise to listen to you wuuu...."
Sigh, "Mary, it's alright, I'm not mad at you, just mad at that scumbag, who doesn't deserve your tears, you'll always have me, I'll always be your friend, but, you have to listen to me from now on, ok??"
She nodded vigorously, "Yes, yes, I'm such a fool, how could I have an amazing person like you as my friend, I'm so sorry Ann, wuuu*
"It's alright, I would never be mad at you ok, let's go to class"
And so we went to class, and surprisingly didn't see Henry there, "What a relief", I thought. I later learned that Mary broke up with him and I was happy for her, "At least you'll be happy", I said, Mary sighed then replied "Yeah, it's for the best", "That's the spirit girl, he doesn't deserve you, your tears are too precious to be wasted", I hugged her, finally feeling relieved.
The following weeks went smoothly, and soon it was time for the mid semester tests, and serious students were seen reading, in different places, while the unserious acted like answers were going to fall from heaven, but that didn't concern me, I was too focused reading with Mary.
The tests came and went as quickly as they came, and I PASSED in flying A's, Mary wasn't so lucky, She failed and was to rewrite her tests, it shocked me because we both usually read in school.
"Mary how did you fail, we usually read together, this isn't expected.",
"Honestly I think it's Henry, it's my fault for letting him live rent - free in my head !!"
"I think it's not, I think you're just using Henry as an excuse to cover up for your laziness, and that's not right !!!", I reprimanded sharply.
Mary, shocked at my outburst, "It's not my fau..."
"Shut up !!!, we read in school everyday, obviously you're just lazy, and don't need to lie to cover it up !!", I cut her off sharply.
"Why are you yelling at me ??, this isn't a major exam, it's just a test, and I'm rewriting it anyway, it's not in your place to reprimand me, get that into your head !!", Mary said.
"Mary are you talking to me like that ?!?"
"How should I talk to you then ??"
"I'm just telling you the truth, it's bitter, and I know that !!"
"What truth, you're just a selfish, over responsible, nosy fool, because of you I broke up with Henry, but thankfully we're back together now, and I guess that's the reason I 'failed' my tests", Mary said sarcastically
🤯 "What did you just say, you got back with Henry???!" I asked incredulously
"Mind your own business you nosy bitch"
"You clearly don't know your worth, how can you go back to a loveless relationship"
"I love him and that's all that matters, friend from before, no no, it's Ex Bestie, yeah that's it", She said raising an eyebrow, looking at me mockingly.
"Since you want to terminate our friendship...I have no objections, I can't force you anyway, but please listen to me, even if it's the last time...."
She cut me off sharply, "Henry's not right for you, you deserve someone better blah, blah, blah", She said tauntingly, then added, "That's what you wanted to say right ??", She said crossing her arms around her chest looking at me with an air of arrogance and superiority, like i'm a nobody, What I said next shocked her
