Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - She didn't listen

At the school cafeteria: When we got to the school cafeteria it wasn't full, so we quickly found where to sit, got our food and started eating. Then put of nowhere, Henry appeared, "May I sit with you ladies?", "Sorry thi...", before I could finish Mary interrupted me "Yes you can", Henry raised an eyebrow and curled his lips into a charming smirk and said "Thanks ladies".

Throughout the meal, Henry and Mary kept talking and talking and talking, and honestly I didn't want to hear any more of it, so I made an excuse to use the toilet and then dashed out of the cafeteria, and returned back few minutes later to meet a scene where Henry was kissing Ann, my mind went blank for a full five seconds, and by the time I came back to my senses, I heard Mary say "Henry I acc...", the words couldn't come out because she saw the expression I was putting on, It was a mixture of disdain and mockery, she didn't know what to say, so I helped her, "No", I said directed to Henry, "She isy best friend and I refuse on her behalf" with that I walked up to Mary and took her away.

When we were alone, I scolded her "So if I didn't come in time, you would have said yes???", "I...", "Mary after all I told you, after all I warned you, you would have said yes??". "I think I love him....", I cut her off sharply "What you feel for him isn't love, you're simply infatuated, sigh", "Mary listen to me, Henry is not the one for you, he's the most notorious play boy in our school, and I can't let my bestie be with him ok??" I softened my approach. "Ok Ann, I promise I won't see him again", "That's good to hear", I said finally relieved. We then went back to class and soon it was time to go home.

Mary and I walked each other home. When I got home, I met my father In the living room, and my mum in the kitchen, I greeted them both and headed to my room to do homework. Then I came down for dinner, aned chatted withy family how my day went. My mum told me that I did the right thing by protecting my friend from the fire even if she can't see it herself. So I went to bed feeling contented.

The following morning I woke up, feeling refreshed, got ready for school, atey breakfast, and left for school. I decided to go to Mary's house so that we could go to school together. When I got there Mary was still having breakfast, so I waited for her. When she was done we bid good bye to her parents and left for school.

A week passed In the blink of an eye, and on this particular morning Faith told me that Henry and Mary are dating, I couldn't contain my shock, "What!!!!!?, after all I told her, she still went ahead to date him ????,oh God, Faith are you sure??", "Yes I'm sure, I was present when she accepted him", "Thank you Faith", "You're welcome bye", I was shocked, confused and honestly didn't know what to say, then I met with Mary, "Mary, is it true that you're dating Henry?", I asked, she bit her lip, took a deep breath and said, "I'm sorry for not telling you Ann, I promise that if he treats me badly or cheats, I'll break up with him, ok don't be mad, I know you mean well for me, but I just want to give him a try, if we don't work out, it's a no, ok just trust me", she said the last sentence pouting playfully, but my expression was still icy - cold, "When it happens, don't come crying to me", and with that I walked away.

Mary quickly chased after me begging, "please ok, don't be mad at me, Ann", I turned back to her and said, "Mary I'm not mad at you, afterall who am I to oppose your happiness, but as a friend that you claim you consider me as, you could at least try to listen to me when I advise you, because I've been in this school for a long time and I know the character, and ability of most people, and I can proudly say that Henry Sparks will only hurt you, he won't love you like you'll love him, he's only with you for what he will gain from you and you know what I'm talking about, but if you insist on being with him, I'll only wish you happiness that you might never find, I'm not cursing you, I'm just stating the facts", and with that I walked away without looking back leaving Mary standing there watching my retreating figure for a full minute lost in deep thought.
