Later that day
Later that day Owen is standing by the hospital gate thinking to himself that he needs to go home, have a bath, and change his clothes but he's afraid what if he couldn't make it back on time, he's afraid to stay home all by himself just as he's lost in his thoughts Blake walk up to him everything okay Owen turn around, heart skip a bit seeing Blake
Owen's thoughts were interrupted as Blake approached him, a concerned look on his face. "Everything okay?" he asked, his voice low and smooth.
Owen's heart skipped a beat as he turned to face Blake, feeling a bit caught off guard. "Y-yeah, I'm fine," he stammered, trying to compose himself.
Blake's eyes narrowed, his gaze searching Owen's face. "You look like you're a million miles away," he said, his voice gentle.
Owen shrugged, feeling a bit self-conscious. "Just thinking about... stuff," he muttered, his eyes darting away from Blake's intense gaze.
Blake's expression turned thoughtful, and he leaned against the gate, his eyes never leaving Owen's face. "Want to talk about it?" he asked, his voice low and inviting
Owen hesitated for a moment, unsure if he wanted to open up to Blake. But there was something about his calm, gentle demeanor that put him at ease.
"I... I was just thinking about going home," Owen said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I need a bath, change of clothes... but I'm scared."
Blake's expression turned understanding. "Scared of what?"
Owen's eyes dropped, his voice barely audible. "What if I can't make it back? What if... what if I get stuck out there?"
Blake's eyes softened, and he reached out, placing a reassuring hand on Owen's arm. "Hey, you're not alone, okay? You've got people here who care about you. You're safe here."
Owen felt a flutter in his chest at the touch, his eyes snapping up to meet Blake's. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension between them palpable.
Just as Owen was starting to feel uncomfortable, Blake spoke up, his voice breaking the silence. "You shouldn't be standing here, thinking about this alone. Let's go find Hayden, see if he can give you a few hours off."
Owen's heart skipped a beat at the mention of Hayden's name, and he felt a pang of... something. Was it relief? Excitement? He wasn't sure, but he nodded, letting Blake lead him back into the hospital
In Hayden office
Hayden looked up from his charting as Blake and Owen walked into the nurses' station, Blake's arm casually sliding off Owen's shoulder. "Hey, doc," Blake said, a charming smile spreading across his face. "Owen here needs a break. Thought I'd take him out for some fresh air, get him cleaned up."
Hayden's expression turned guarded, his eyes flicking to Owen, then back to Blake. He wasn't comfortable with Blake taking Owen anywhere alone, a nagging feeling in the back of his mind telling him it wasn't a good idea.
"Owen, you need to stay close to the hospital," Hayden said, his tone firm but controlled. "It's not safe out there."
Blake chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Aww, come on doc. I'm not gonna let anything happen to him. I've got his back."
Hayden's jaw clenched, his eyes narrowing slightly. He didn't like this, didn't like Blake's casual familiarity with Owen, or the way Owen's eyes lit up when he looked at Blake. But he knew he couldn't keep Owen coiled up in the hospital forever.
"Fine," Hayden said finally, his voice tight, "but be back in two hours, Owen. And stay alert."
Owen nodded, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Got it, doc."
As they turned to leave, Hayden's gaze followed them, his eyes lingering on Owen's back. He didn't like this, not one bit
On the way
Blake's words sent a flutter through Owen's chest as he drove him home, the city streets blurring outside the window. "I always read your messages," Blake said, his voice low and smooth.
Owen's face heated up, a deep blush spreading across his cheeks. Blake chuckled, his eyes cr crling at the corners as he glanced at him. "You're cute when you're embarrassed."
Owen's heart skipped a beat as Blake's gaze lingered on him, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Are you into me, Owen?" he asked, his voice dropping to a whisper.
Owen's mind went blank, his thoughts racing with conflicting emotions. Hayden's face flashed in his mind, but he pushed it away, his heart telling him he couldn't be sure about Hayden's feelings. He hesitated, his eyes darting to Blake, then back to his lap.
Blake's expression turned serious, his eyes narrowing slightly. "No need to answer," he said, his voice gentle. "But if you are... I'm interested."
Owen's heart skipped a beat, his eyes snapping up to meet Blake's. He nodded, a whisper of a sound escaping his lips. "Yeah... I'm into you."
Blake's face lit up with a pleased smile, his eyes cr crling at the corners. "Why?" he asked, his voice curious. "I'm the most dangerous mafia in the city. Everyone's scared of me."
Owen shrugged, his eyes locked on Blake's. "I don't judge people by their deeds," he said, his voice soft. "I just... I'm into you, no particular reason. And I'm sure you're not a bad person, as everyone sees you."
Blake's expression turned complicated, a mix of emotions flickering across his face. He nodded, his eyes looking away, focusing on the road. His thoughts were a jumbled mess, his heart telling him to pursue Owen, but his conscience whispering that he shouldn't, not behind Hayden's back.
As the silence stretched between them, Owen wondered if he'd made a mistake,. But then Blake's hand reached out, his fingers brushing against Owen's, sending a spark of electricity through his body as he said"let give it a chance "
Blake's words sent Owen's heart soaring, his eyes widening in shock. "Really?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Blake nodded, a slow smile spreading across his face. "Yeah, really. But if your mind happens to change later... let me know."
Owen shook his head vehemently, his eyes locked on Blake's. "My mind won't change," he said, his voice firm.
Blake's expression softened, his eyes cr crling at the corners. He nodded, and the car came to a stop in front of Owen's house. "Is this it?" he asked, his voice gentle.
Owen nodded, his heart still racing as he got out of the car, Blake following suit. They walked up to the front door, Owen fumbling with his keys before finally getting the door open.
As they stepped inside, Blake's eyes widened in surprise, his gaze scanning the walls of Owen's living room. They were covered in photos of him - Blake laughing, Blake eating, Blake sleeping. Owen's face flamed with embarrassment as he realized what Blake was looking at.
"Ah, I'm so sorry," Owen stammered, his eyes darting around the room. "I... I didn't mean to-"
Blake's laughter cut him off, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "You're a fan, huh?" he asked, his voice teasing.
Owen's face burned even hotter, but Blake just chuckled, pulling him into a gentle hug. "I like it," he whispered, his breath tickling Owen's ear
