In the OR
Owen's eyes flicked to Hayden, his gaze lingering on the focused expression behind the face mask. Hayden's eyes were narrowed, his brow furrowed in concentration, and Owen couldn't help but feel a flutter in his chest. He was so handsome, so confident, so...capable.
As he assisted Hayden, Owen's mind began to wander. He remembered the way Hayden had kissed him, the way he'd confessed his feelings. Owen's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly refocused on the task at hand, not wanting to make a mistake.
The operation seemed to fly by, with Hayden's expert hands moving swiftly and precisely. When they finally finished, the room erupted in a flurry of activity, with the surgical team congratulating each other on a job well done.
As the news of the successful surgery spread, the hospital was abuzz with excitement. Doctors, nurses, and other staff members were all talking about Hayden's incredible feat.
"...and he's so hot, too!" one of the omega nurses whispered to another, casting a glance in Hayden's direction.
"I know, right? I'm totally going to try and get his attention," her friend replied, a determined look on her face.
Owen felt a twinge of discomfort, his eyes darting to Hayden, who was still focused on the patient. He knew Hayden was a catch, but he didn't want to think about him with anyone else.
As the crowd began to disperse, Hayden pulled off his mask, his eyes drift to Hayden lips, head walk out of the operation room, throw his gloves in the trash can
Owen quickly followed Hayden out of the operating room, his eyes fixed on the back of Hayden's head. He felt a mix of emotions - admiration, desire, and a hint of jealousy. He didn't want to think about Hayden with anyone else, but he knew he had no claim on him.
As Hayden threw his gloves in the trash can, he turned to Owen, a hint of a smile on his face. "Good job in there, Owen," he said, his voice low and smooth.
Owen felt a flutter in his chest, but he tried to play it cool. "Thanks, Hayden," he said, trying to sound nonchalant.
Hayden's eyes met his, and for a moment, Owen thought he saw a flicker of something in their depths. But it was quickly gone, replaced by a professional smile. "I'll see you later, Owen," he said, and turned to walk away.
Owen watched him go, feeling a pang of disappointment.
Dates and practice session
Owen and Blake walked hand in hand through the hospital corridors, laughing and chatting about their latest adventure. It had been a few weeks since they started dating, and things were going great. Blake had been making an effort to visit Owen at work, and they'd even started having dinner dates, being careful to always be back before nightfall, when the zombies were most active.
As they passed by Hayden's office, Owen caught a glimpse of him sitting at his desk, staring intently at a stack of papers. He looked...different, Owen thought. More withdrawn, more serious. Their eyes met for a brief moment, and Owen felt a pang of guilt. Hayden's expression was neutral, but Owen could sense a hint of sadness behind his eyes.
Owen quickly looked away, feeling uncomfortable. He knew Hayden was still dealing with his own feelings, and Owen didn't want to make things awkward.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Blake asked, noticing Owen's sudden change in demeanor.
Owen shook it off. "Nothing, just...Hayden's in a mood, I guess."
Blake followed Owen's gaze to Hayden's office. "Oh, yeah. He's been like that for a while. Probably just stressed with work."
Owen nodded, feeling a little better. Yeah, that was it. Hayden was just stressed with work.
As they continued walking, Owen couldn't shake off the feeling that Hayden was watching them, his eyes fixed on their entwined hands.
Later that day, Owen met up with Hayden for their usual teaching session. Things were a bit...off, though. Hayden was quieter than usual, his responses short and to the point. Owen tried to brush it off, but he couldn't help feeling like Hayden was pulling away.
As they finished up, Hayden turned to Owen and said, "You know, I think we're good for today. You can go ahead and take off."
Owen nodded, feeling a bit dismissed. "Okay, sure. See you tomorrow, then?"
Hayden nodded, his expression neutral. "Yeah, see you tomorrow."
Owen left the office feeling a bit unsettled.
Later that day
As he's about to leave his duty post in the nurse department,a senior doctor sent him to drop files in Hayden office
Owen walked into Hayden's office to deliver some patient files. He knocked softly on the door, but there was no response. As he entered, he saw Hayden sleeping, his head resting on his desk.
Owen's heart melted at the sight. Hayden looked so peaceful, so unlike the confident and composed doctor he usually was. Owen felt a pang of tenderness and carefully placed the files on the edge of the desk, trying not to disturb him.
He stood there for a moment, watching Hayden sleep. His face was relaxed, and his breathing was slow and steady. Owen couldn't help but feel a strong urge to touch him, to brush a strand of hair out of his face.
Just as Owen was about to turn and leave, Hayden stirred, his eyes fluttering open. He looked up at Owen, a dazed expression on his face, and for a moment, they just stared at each other.
"Hey," Hayden said finally, his voice low and husky. "What time is it?"
Owen smiled, feeling a bit self-conscious. "It's late," he said. "You fell asleep."
Hayden rubbed his eyes, looking a bit embarrassed. "Sorry about that," he said, his voice rough with sleep.
Owen shook his head. "No need to apologize," he said, his voice soft. "You obviously needed it."
Hayden looked up at him, his eyes locking onto Owen's. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension between them palpable.
Then, Hayden looked away, his expression turning professional. "Thanks for bringing those files," he said, his voice brisk.
Owen nodded, feeling a bit dismissed. "No problem," he said, and turned to leave.
As he walked out of the office, he couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment again.
