"No! This is impossible!"
The refusal burst out of Sarah before she could stop it. She shook her head violently, her chest tightening as her breathing grew increasingly ragged. It felt as though the air around her had suddenly become too thin, too heavy to inhale.
Across from her, Jayden's expression slowly turned cold.
The warmth that had existed moments ago vanished from his face, replaced by a chilling calmness that somehow felt even more intimidating than anger. His sharp gaze locked onto Sarah and refused to leave her, as though he were trying to force her to understand something she stubbornly refused to see.
"What do you mean by saying something like that?" Sarah demanded, her voice rising despite herself.
At that moment, she no longer cared that Jayden Lin was her boss. She no longer cared that he was one of the most powerful men in the city because that very boss had just done something utterly insane.
