Jayden looked visibly shaken for perhaps the first time in his life.
The calm, composed man who always seemed to have complete control over every situation now appeared restless, his movements sharp and hurried as he repeatedly checked on Sarah while guiding her back to her apartment. His eyes never left her for long. Every few seconds, he would glance at her again, making sure she was still standing, still breathing, still conscious.
The image of Keith's hands around her neck continued to replay in his mind like a nightmare he could not stop watching. By the time they reached the apartment, Jayden's patience was already gone.
Without caring about how cramped the place was or whether he was intruding on her personal space, he immediately stepped inside and closed the door behind them. The apartment suddenly felt even smaller with his presence filling it.
Sarah barely had time to react before Jayden gently but firmly guided her toward the nearest sofa.
