Sarah fell silent the moment the diamond earrings caught the light.
The dazzling sparkle reflected in her eyes for only a few brief seconds before her gaze slowly lifted away from the jewelry. Her expression remained flat and unreadable as she looked at Keith. A faint crease appeared between her brows while she stared at the wide smile stretched across his face. There was unmistakable pride in that smile, a confidence that seemed to say he had arrived as a hero bearing something precious enough to erase every problem between them.
Yet instead of feeling touched, Sarah felt strangely uncomfortable.
Once upon a time, she would have been overjoyed. She had treasured every single thing Keith had ever given her, no matter how meaningless it was. There had even been a time when Keith casually handed her one of his old T-shirts after wearing it for an entire day. He was not a famous musician. He was not some celebrity whose merchandise people fought over. It was simply a used shirt.
