Chapter 12 - Chapter 11: Another Ariyan over the Inevitable Passage of Time

By the inevitable law of life, three years have passed. The pages of the calendar have turned, changing the look of the city, and along with that, Ariyan's lifestyle has transformed completely. The boy who, three years ago, used to stand under a lamp post waiting for a bus, lives today in one of the most expensive penthouses in the city. Ariyan is now the CEO of 'A.H. SoftTech'. His name is now on everyone's lips in the corporate world.

Ariyan is no longer angry or harsh like before; rather, he is now incredibly grave and a man of few words. Expensive suits, branded watches, and a costly car—he has everything now. The only thing missing is that peace, which he used to find under the Bokul tree in Shantiniketan village during his childhood. Although there is an expensive iPhone in his office drawer, that faded 'blue note' is still kept with immense care inside his inner pocket.

On the other hand, Tuli's life seems to have come to a standstill. Three years ago, Mr. Arman had forced her to go abroad for higher education. He wanted to erase Ariyan from Tuli's mind entirely. But Mr. Arman did not know that some names are written in blood, not in ink on the heart.

Tuli has returned to the country today. Coming out of the airport, as she was heading toward the city sitting in her luxury car, she saw Ariyan's picture on the large billboards by the roadside. 'Young Entrepreneur of the Year—Ariyan Hossain'. Tuli's eyes welled up with tears.

"Have you changed too, Ariyan Bhaiya? Or are you still holding onto that same stubborn resolve?" Tuli murmured to herself.

That very evening, there was a major business party in the city. Mr. Arman went there with his daughter. He wanted to introduce Tuli to the people of the upper strata of society. But as soon as he entered the party, Mr. Arman froze.

Standing as the center of attraction of the party was a young man with a well-built physique. He was surrounded by a crowd of journalists and businessmen. When the young man turned around, Mr. Arman's heart shuddered inside his chest. This was the exact same boy whom he had once insulted by calling a 'street boy'.

As his eyes met Ariyan's, Mr. Arman quickly averted his gaze. But Ariyan walked forward. On his face was a sarcastic yet sophisticated smile.

"How are you, Mr. Arman? Meeting after a long time," Ariyan said in a calm voice.

Mr. Arman somehow composed himself and said, "Good. I am surprised to see your progress."

"There is nothing to be surprised about. It was you who said—respect comes through power and money. I have only walked the path shown by you," saying this, Ariyan looked toward Tuli, who was standing right next to him.

Tuli could not look into Ariyan's eyes. Those soulful eyes of Ariyan were now much more self-confident and, at the same time, as cold as ice.

Ariyan looked at Tuli and said, "Welcome, Miss Tuli. I heard you have returned with a major degree. If any good position falls vacant in my company, I will surely let you know."

This mockery from Ariyan pierced Tuli's heart like an arrow. She could realize that Ariyan had succeeded indeed, but those wounds in his mind had not healed yet. Today, in trying to defeat Mr. Arman, Ariyan had turned himself into a man of stone.
