"Hah... hah... hah.."
Ginny was gasping, leaning against the wall in an empty classroom.
She looked at her trembling hands covered in red paint. Her mind was blank with no recollection of how she got there.
"W-what happened..."
It was like a dream. Scenes flashed by faster than her brain could handle, all jumbled up, incomprehensible.
Just a moment ago she was in an empty hallway, red paint all over her with no memory of how she got there.
Then all of a sudden. She heard faint screaming followed by a crowd of murmurs loudly echoing throughout the walls.
Panicked she stumbled and ran, half leaning against the wall and after what felt like an hour. She finally found a room.
Now sitting in a corner. Ginny felt like her whole world was distorted. She had no memory of what happened before she got there.
After Ginny managed to calm down, she opened the door cautiously peeking her head out. Seeing nobody she quickly ran towards the Gryffindor common room and passed a group talking about the chamber of secrets, up the staircase, and into her dorm.
Luckily her dorm mates weren't there.
Rushing over to her trunk, Ginny took out everything and reached in, pulling out a shabby leather book.
She opened the book to a random page and took out a quill.
'Tom what do I do? I think I'm going crazy there's paint all over me and I can't remember what happened.'
She wrote quickly shaking so much that the letters were barely legible.
Suddenly the letters began to fade. Ink was absorbed into the pages and the page was once again clear.
Then ink began coming out, forming words.
'Don't worry. Maybe you're just tired. Get some sleep first.'
After reading those words Ginny suddenly became sleepy, it was like a switch turned off and exhaustion began filling her body.
Without cleaning up she flopped onto her bed and closed her eyes.
"Hey Ginny, wake up, you're gonna be late."
Ginny woke up with a start. Her dorm mate's face was in front of her.
"Woah!"
Startled Ginny jumped back. It was Demelza Robins a fellow Quidditch enthusiast.
"Please dont do that Demelza." She groaned and pulled up her sheets, blocking her view.
"Sorry." Demelza chuckled. "Get up quickly or you're gonna miss breakfast."
Ginny grumbled in response. Slowly getting up she found that her trunk was open and the contents were haphazardly spilled out.
"By the way when did you hear the rumour?" Demelza asked.
"What rumor?" There were a lot of rumors circulating around Hogwarts so it was difficult to pinpoint one of them.
"The one about the chamber of secrets."
"Chamber of secrets?"
"Yes. There's a rumour that a beast is hiding inside the chamber. It hunts half bloods and muggleborns. There's a message on the second floor written in blood."
Ginny's eyes widened. For some reason she had a really bad feeling, but before she could think about it for some reason her mind went blank.
"Hello? Ginny?"
Ginny cane back to a hand waving in front of her.
"Are you okay?" Demelza worriedly asked.
"N-nothing."
Ginny stood up and tiredly walked past Demelza.
As she left Demelza worriedly looked at her, wanting to say something but eventually decided to keep quiet.
Ginny was quietly sitting in the Great Hall, not eating but mindlessly poking the sausages in front of her.
"Hey Ginny what's wrong?"
Percy sat beside her concerned.
"Nothing's wrong." Ginny said shifting her eyes away.
Percy frowned. "Come with me to the medical wing."
Ginny shook her head nervously. "no. I don't need to go.."
"Then at least have a pepperup potion." Percy took out a potion from his robes handing it to Ginny.
"no..no.. I don't need one."
Ginny kept shaking her head.
Ignoring her Percy shoved the pepperup potion into her hands. "Take it after you eat."
Without giving her a chance to respond, he stood up and left the Great hall.
"Are you sure you're okay?"
Colin suddenly asked Ginny. It was History of Magic and the rest of the class was asleep.
'Oh no. What do I do?'
Ginny struggled to come up with a reply.
'Should I tell him?'
'What if he hates me?'
Ginny couldn't decide.
But instead of replying she decided to change the subject.
"Uh... what do you think Basil is doing?"
"Basil? Hmm, what coud he be doing?"
Colin was immediately distracted and was oblivious to Ginny's attempt to distract him.
"Probably wandering the castle. He said he was trying to find something."
"What is he trying to find?"
"I don't know. He just said something about a snake."
Ginny suddenly had a bad feeling. Something told her that whatever Basil was trying to find was related to her loss of memory.
"Do you know anything else?"
"Not really. But I've never seen a snake here. Have you?"
"No..."
For some reason Ginny felt like she was lying to Colin. Although she doesn't remember it, maybe it had something to do with her blanking out.
"Lets ask Basil after class."
Colin suggested noticing that Ginny was interested.
Then he yawned and laid his head on the History of Magic textbook.
