(Keifer's POV)
Morning came too fast.
It always did.
Especially after nights like that.
I woke up before the alarm.
Habit.
The room was quiet, the soft morning light coming through the curtains.
And Jay Jay was still asleep.
Curled against me like a small, stubborn cat that refused to move.
Her head rested on my chest.
One arm wrapped tightly around my waist.
Like if she let go I might disappear.
I stared at the ceiling for a moment.
Thinking.
Then looked down at her again.
Her hair was a complete mess.
Her breathing slow.
Peaceful.
For someone who caused chaos everywhere she went…
She slept like an angel.
Keifer:
"You're going to be late."
No response.
I gently brushed some hair away from her face.
She frowned in her sleep.
Then hugged me tighter.
Jay:
"…five minutes…"
I laughed quietly.
Keifer:
"Jay."
Jay:
"No."
Keifer:
"We have a history exam."
One eye slowly opened.
Jay:
"…why did you remind me."
Keifer:
"Because it exists."
She groaned dramatically and buried her face back into my chest.
Jay:
"I hate school."
Keifer:
"You love graduating."
Jay:
"That's manipulation."
I kissed her forehead.
Keifer:
"Get up."
She sighed like the world had betrayed her.
But eventually sat up.
Jay:
"If I fail this exam…"
Keifer:
"You won't."
Jay:
"If I fail I'm blaming you."
Keifer:
"For teaching you?"
Jay:
"Yes."
I shook my head and got out of bed.
Later – In the Car
Jay Jay was unusually quiet.
Which was suspicious.
Because normally she filled every silent moment with complaints or sarcasm.
Keifer:
"You're thinking too much."
Jay turned toward me.
Jay:
"You're suspicious."
I sighed.
Keifer:
"We already talked about this."
Jay:
"No."
She pointed at me dramatically.
Jay:
"You teach me something."
I nodded.
Jay:
"Yes."
Jay:
"And then it magically appears in the exam."
Keifer:
"That's called studying the syllabus."
Jay narrowed her eyes.
Jay:
"…still suspicious."
Keifer:
"You're impossible."
Jay:
"I'm observant."
I just laughed.
There was no winning arguments with her.
School – Final Exam Day
Section E looked half-dead.
Mentally.
Emotionally.
Academically.
Blaster was lying on his desk again.
Blaster:
"This is the final boss."
Felix nodded dramatically.
Felix:
"The last battle."
Calix sighed.
Calix:
"If we survive today…"
Ci N raised his hand.
Ci N:
"We deserve medals."
David calmly sat down.
David:
"You deserve diplomas."
Eman leaned back in his chair.
Eman:
"I studied all night."
Eran nodded.
Eran:
"Same."
Josh whispered.
Josh:
"My brain is full."
Denzel stretched.
Denzel:
"Let's finish this."
Then the teacher entered.
Carrying the final stack of papers.
The classroom instantly became silent.
Teacher:
"This is your History final exam."
Blaster whispered dramatically.
Blaster:
"Goodbye everyone."
The teacher started distributing papers.
Desk by desk.
Row by row.
Finally one landed on Jay's desk.
Another on mine.
Teacher:
"You have two hours."
She looked around the room.
Teacher:
"Begin."
Pages flipped.
Pens started moving.
I read the questions quickly.
Wars.
Important treaties.
Political changes.
Historical figures.
Exactly what we studied.
I glanced sideways.
Jay was already writing.
Focused.
Serious.
Good.
Around the classroom…
Section E was actually working quietly.
No panic.
No screaming.
Just writing.
Blaster whispered softly.
Blaster:
"I remember this."
Felix nodded.
Felix:
"Yes."
Ci N scribbled notes quickly.
Calix looked concentrated.
Even Eman looked confident.
Time passed quickly.
Thirty minutes.
One hour.
Jay tapped her pen briefly.
Thinking.
Then continued writing.
At one point she looked at me.
Jay (whispering):
"You're still suspicious."
I almost laughed.
Keifer (whispering):
"Focus."
Jay:
"I am."
She went back to writing.
Two hours later…
Teacher:
"Pens down."
The entire classroom leaned back.
Relieved.
Exhausted.
Free.
Blaster slowly stood up.
Blaster:
"IT'S OVER."
Felix raised his arms.
Felix:
"WE SURVIVED."
Ci N pointed dramatically.
Ci N:
"SECTION E IS INVINCIBLE."
David shook his head.
But smiled slightly.
David:
"You studied."
Denzel stretched.
Denzel:
"That was actually fair."
Jay looked at me again.
Still suspicious.
Jay:
"…You definitely know something."
Keifer:
"I know the syllabus."
Jay:
"Hmmm."
I leaned closer slightly.
Keifer:
"You passed."
Jay:
"How do you know?"
Keifer:
"Because you're smart."
Jay blinked.
Jay:
"You're trying to flatter me."
Keifer:
"Maybe."
She smiled slightly.
Jay:
"…thank you."
And just like that…
The final exam was finished.
Section E had survived the entire week.
But something told me…
Life wasn't going to stay calm for very long.
Because with Jay Jay around…
Peace never lasted long.
