(Keifer's POV)
The next morning the entire school felt… different.
Tense.
Heavy.
Like everyone was waiting for something huge to happen.
Which made sense.
Because today was result day.
Students crowded the hallways.
Groups whispering.
Some pacing nervously.
Some pretending they didn't care.
Some already praying.
Section E stood together near the courtyard.
And for once…
Everyone looked nervous.
Blaster was walking in circles.
Blaster:
"I can't do this."
Felix was biting his nails.
Felix:
"What if I failed math?"
Calix looked pale.
Calix:
"What if I failed everything?"
Eman leaned against the wall.
Eman:
"I studied so much…"
Eran nodded.
Eran:
"If we fail now I'm becoming a monk."
Ci N dramatically grabbed his chest.
Ci N:
"My heart can't take this."
David stood calmly like always.
David:
"You'll all pass."
Josh looked at him.
Josh:
"How are you so calm?"
David shrugged.
David:
"Because we actually studied."
Meanwhile Jay stood beside me.
Suspiciously quiet.
Which meant she was nervous.
Keifer:
"You're overthinking."
Jay looked at the academic building like it was a monster.
Jay:
"Results decide my future."
Keifer:
"You did well."
Jay:
"You say that about everything."
Keifer:
"Because it's true."
At that moment a teacher walked out and taped several large result sheets on the announcement board.
Instant chaos.
Students rushed forward.
Shouting.
Pushing.
Trying to see their names.
Blaster grabbed Felix.
Blaster:
"LET'S GO."
Felix:
"I'M NOT READY."
Calix and Eman ran toward the board.
Ci N followed dramatically.
Ci N:
"FOR HONOR!"
Within seconds the entire crowd surrounded the board.
Jay grabbed my sleeve.
Jay:
"Wait."
Keifer:
"What."
Jay took a deep breath.
Then slowly turned toward me.
Jay:
"I can't look."
Keifer:
"Seriously?"
Jay closed her eyes tightly.
Jay:
"Just check."
Keifer:
"Jay…"
Jay:
"I'm scared."
She grabbed my arm tighter.
Jay:
"Check my marks."
I sighed softly.
Then pushed through the crowd.
Students were shouting everywhere.
"I PASSED!"
"OH MY GOD!"
"I GOT 92!"
"I'M ALIVE!"
I finally reached the board.
Scanning the list.
Names.
Percentages.
Ranks.
Then I found it.
Jay Jay Mariano — 95.9%
For a second I just stared.
Then I burst out laughing.
Keifer:
"JAY!"
She was still standing behind me with her eyes closed.
Keifer:
"JAY LOOK!"
She slowly opened one eye.
Jay:
"…what."
I grabbed her shoulders and turned her toward the board.
Pointing at her name.
Keifer:
"95.9%!"
Jay blinked.
Once.
Twice.
Then stared at the number again.
Jay:
"…what?"
Keifer:
"You got 95.9%."
For a moment she didn't move.
Didn't speak.
Didn't breathe.
Then she suddenly screamed.
Jay:
"WHAT?!"
Students nearby turned to look.
Jay grabbed my arm.
Jay:
"ARE YOU SERIOUS?!"
Keifer:
"Yes!"
Jay stared at the board again.
Still shocked.
Jay:
"I GOT 95.9%?!"
Keifer:
"You did."
She suddenly jumped and hugged me tightly.
Jay:
"OH MY GOD."
Around us Section E was also reacting.
Blaster shouted from the crowd.
Blaster:
"I GOT 87!"
Felix screamed.
Felix:
"91%!"
Calix looked shocked.
Calix:
"89%!"
Eman raised his hands dramatically.
Eman:
"WE PASSED!"
Ci N looked like he might cry.
Ci N:
"90%!"
David nodded calmly.
David:
"94%."
Denzel laughed loudly.
Denzel:
"This class is insane."
Meanwhile Jay was still hugging me.
Completely shocked.
Jay:
"I GOT 95.9%."
Keifer:
"Yes."
Jay pulled back slightly.
Then suddenly narrowed her eyes again.
Jay:
"You're still suspicious."
Keifer:
"Oh my god."
Jay:
"Everything you taught came in the exam."
Keifer:
"That's called studying."
Jay crossed her arms.
Jay:
"Hmmm."
Then suddenly she looked back at the board again.
Jay:
"Wait."
Keifer:
"What."
Jay pointed upward.
Jay:
"Your name."
I looked up.
At the very top of the list.
Keifer Watson — 99.9%
Jay gasped dramatically.
Jay:
"WHAT?!"
Blaster ran over.
Blaster:
"NO WAY."
Felix looked at the board.
Felix:
"99.9%?!"
Ci N pointed dramatically.
Ci N:
"HE'S NOT HUMAN."
Calix shook his head.
Calix:
"That's illegal."
Eman looked shocked.
Eman:
"That's genius level."
David crossed his arms.
David:
"I'm not surprised."
Jay looked back at me.
Completely amazed.
Jay:
"99.9%."
Keifer:
"Apparently."
Jay suddenly grinned.
Jay:
"Of course my tutor is a genius."
Keifer:
"Of course my student got 95.9%."
She smiled proudly.
Then leaned closer and kissed me quickly.
Right there in front of everyone.
Jay:
"Thank you."
Blaster immediately yelled.
Blaster:
"PUBLIC ROMANCE."
Felix laughed.
Felix:
"THE SMART COUPLE."
Ci N pointed dramatically.
Ci N:
"SECTION E LEGENDS."
Jay just laughed.
Still holding my hand.
And somehow…
After one of the most stressful weeks of our lives…
Everything had turned out perfectly.
