Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: The Suspiciously Good Teacher

(Jay Jay's POV)

By Thursday afternoon, Section E looked like a group of survivors who had somehow escaped four disasters in a row.

English.

Math.

Physics.

Chemistry.

All done.

All survived.

But unfortunately…

There was one last exam.

The teacher stood in front of the class again, organizing the papers from the chemistry test.

Everyone watched her like she was about to announce the fate of the universe.

Blaster whispered dramatically.

Blaster:

"Please say tomorrow is a holiday."

Felix nodded desperately.

Felix:

"Yes please."

The teacher looked up.

Teacher:

"Your final exam tomorrow…"

She paused.

Teacher:

"History."

The entire class groaned.

Ci N leaned back in his chair.

Ci N:

"I hate remembering dates."

Calix sighed loudly.

Calix:

"There are too many wars."

Eman looked confused.

Eman:

"Why did everyone fight so much in history?"

David answered calmly.

David:

"Politics."

Denzel looked at him.

Denzel:

"You always have answers."

Blaster dramatically slammed his desk.

Blaster:

"WHY DO WE NEED HISTORY?!"

The teacher crossed her arms.

Teacher:

"To avoid repeating mistakes."

Ci N whispered.

Ci N:

"We will definitely repeat them."

The bell rang.

And within seconds the class exploded with noise again.

Felix grabbed his bag.

Felix:

"I'm going home to memorize everything."

Calix nodded.

Calix:

"Same."

Blaster pointed at Keifer again.

Blaster:

"If we fail tomorrow…"

Blaster:

"I'm blaming you."

Keifer blinked.

Keifer:

"…Why."

Blaster pointed dramatically.

Blaster:

"Because you're the smart one."

Keifer sighed.

Meanwhile I was staring at him.

Thinking.

Jay:

"History tutoring tonight?"

Keifer smirked slightly.

Keifer:

"Of course."

Watson Mansion – Night

(Jay Jay's POV)

The dining table looked like a small library now.

History books.

Notes.

Timelines.

Wars.

Dates.

Important figures.

I leaned over the table.

Already overwhelmed.

Jay:

"There are too many years."

Keifer sat beside me.

Keifer:

"Focus on the key events."

Jay:

"You say that like there are only five."

He laughed softly.

Then pulled the notebook toward him.

Keifer:

"Alright."

Jay:

"Professor Keifer returns."

Keifer started explaining major events.

Breaking them into simple stories.

Connecting causes and effects.

Making timelines easier to remember.

And surprisingly…

It worked.

Jay:

"…Wait."

Keifer looked up.

Jay:

"That makes sense."

Keifer nodded.

Keifer:

"You just need structure."

Jay:

"I need a miracle."

Keifer smirked.

Keifer:

"You have a good teacher."

Another hour passed.

Then another.

By the time we finished reviewing the final topic…

My brain felt full.

But prepared.

Jay:

"I might actually pass history."

Keifer leaned closer.

Placing a small kiss on my forehead.

Keifer:

"You definitely will."

Jay:

"My very suspicious tutor."

Keifer raised an eyebrow.

Keifer:

"Suspicious?"

Jay:

"Yes."

He laughed quietly.

Keifer:

"Why."

Jay:

"Everything you teach me…"

I crossed my arms.

Jay:

"Comes in the exam."

Keifer blinked.

Then smiled.

Keifer:

"That's called studying the syllabus."

Jay:

"…Still suspicious."

He shook his head.

Keifer:

"You're ridiculous."

Jay:

"I'm observant."

He closed the book.

Keifer:

"Come on."

Jay:

"What."

Keifer stood up and stretched.

Keifer:

"Sleep."

Jay:

"Finally."

Later That Night

(Keifer's POV)

The mansion was quiet.

Completely quiet.

The kind of calm that only came late at night.

Jay Jay had fallen asleep quickly.

But not before complaining about history dates for ten minutes straight.

Now she was curled up beside me in bed.

Half asleep.

Half hugging me.

Her head rested against my chest.

One arm wrapped around my waist.

Like she refused to let go even in her sleep.

I looked down at her.

Smiling slightly.

Keifer:

"You're dramatic even when sleeping."

She mumbled something unintelligible.

Probably still arguing with history.

Her grip tightened slightly.

Pulling closer.

I wrapped my arm around her shoulders.

Holding her comfortably.

The room stayed quiet.

Peaceful.

Jay Jay suddenly spoke again.

Half asleep.

Jay:

"…Keifer."

Keifer:

"Hmm?"

Jay:

"You're suspicious."

I chuckled softly.

Keifer:

"You're still thinking about that?"

Jay:

"Everything you teach…"

She yawned.

Jay:

"…comes in the exam."

I kissed the top of her head gently.

Keifer:

"That's because I study properly."

Jay:

"Still suspicious…"

Her voice faded.

Sleep finally winning.

Within seconds she was completely asleep again.

Breathing softly.

Still holding onto me.

I adjusted the blanket over her shoulders.

Careful not to wake her.

Then pulled her closer.

Keifer:

"Goodnight, troublemaker."

She shifted slightly.

Face pressing against my chest again.

Jay:

"…goodnight…"

And within moments…

Both of us fell asleep.

Curled together.

Peaceful.

Comfortable.

Tomorrow would be the final exam.

And if everything went well…

Section E would officially survive the entire exam week.

Which honestly felt like a miracle.
