Chapter 54: Chemistry… and a Little Too Much Chemistry
(Jay Jay's POV)
By the time the Physics exam ended, Section E looked like a group of soldiers who had just survived a battlefield.
Three exams down.
But unfortunately…
The war wasn't over yet.
The teacher finished collecting the physics papers and looked at the class.
Everyone immediately became suspicious.
Because when teachers looked calm like that…
Something terrible was about to happen.
Teacher:
"Tomorrow's exam…"
She adjusted her glasses.
Teacher:
"Chemistry."
Blaster slowly turned his head.
Blaster:
"…I hate science."
Felix raised his hand dramatically.
Felix:
"Ma'am is it too late to transfer schools?"
Teacher:
"Yes."
Calix leaned back in despair.
Calix:
"I should've become a farmer."
Eman looked traumatized.
Eman:
"I don't understand half the periodic table."
Eran nodded.
Eran:
"Why are there so many elements?"
Ci N slammed his notebook shut.
Ci N:
"WHO INVENTED CHEMISTRY?!"
David calmly answered.
David:
"Multiple scientists over several centuries."
Ci N stared at him.
Ci N:
"…You're not helping."
Meanwhile I looked at Keifer.
Jay:
"Please tell me you like chemistry too."
Keifer shrugged.
Keifer:
"It's not that hard."
Jay:
"You're suspiciously good at everything."
Keifer smirked.
Keifer:
"You'll survive."
Jay:
"You're teaching me again."
Keifer grabbed his bag.
Keifer:
"That was already the plan."
Behind us Blaster shouted dramatically.
Blaster:
"KEIFER!"
Keifer froze.
Slowly turning around.
Blaster pointed at him again like a desperate man.
Blaster:
"WE NEED HELP."
Felix nodded.
Felix:
"Save Section E."
Keifer immediately grabbed my wrist.
Keifer:
"We're leaving."
Jay:
"Very fast."
And within seconds we escaped the classroom before Section E could recruit him as their full-time tutor.
Watson Mansion – Evening
(Jay Jay's POV)
The dining table had officially become our study headquarters.
Tonight's battlefield?
Chemistry.
Periodic table charts.
Chemical equations.
Reaction formulas.
I stared at the textbook.
Already annoyed.
Jay:
"Why does chemistry look like a secret code?"
Keifer sat across from me.
Completely calm again.
Keifer:
"Because it's basically another language."
Jay:
"That sounds worse."
He slid the notebook toward me.
Keifer:
"Alright."
Jay:
"Professor Keifer is starting again?"
Keifer smirked slightly.
Keifer:
"Yes."
He started explaining reactions and formulas.
Breaking them down step by step.
Writing examples.
Drawing little diagrams.
Jay:
"…Okay wait."
Keifer looked up.
Jay:
"That actually makes sense."
Keifer smiled a little.
Keifer:
"You learn fast."
Jay:
"When my teacher is patient."
Keifer leaned back slightly.
Keifer:
"I have to be."
Jay:
"Why."
He looked at me with that teasing expression again.
Keifer:
"Because my student complains a lot."
I threw a pen at him.
Jay:
"Jerk."
He caught it easily.
Still smiling.
Another hour passed.
Then another.
By the second hour my brain officially started shutting down.
Jay:
"I'm tired."
Keifer closed the book.
Keifer:
"Break."
Jay:
"Finally."
He leaned back in his chair.
Then tapped his leg lightly.
Keifer:
"Come here."
I looked at him.
Jay:
"You're using that trick again."
Keifer shrugged.
Keifer:
"It works."
I walked around the table and sat sideways on his lap.
Resting my head on his shoulder.
Jay:
"This is not studying."
Keifer wrapped an arm around my waist.
Holding me comfortably.
Keifer:
"It's a study break."
The room stayed quiet for a moment.
Just the soft sound of the clock ticking.
Jay:
"Ten minutes."
Keifer:
"Deal."
He gently brushed a strand of hair away from my face.
Then placed a small kiss on my temple.
Jay:
"You're distracting the student again."
Keifer chuckled softly.
Keifer:
"That's part of my teaching method."
Jay:
"You're a terrible teacher."
Another quick kiss on my cheek.
Keifer:
"And yet you're passing your exams."
Jay:
"…Good point."
After a few minutes he sighed and gently moved me off his lap.
Jay:
"Noooo."
Keifer reopened the book.
Keifer:
"Back to chemistry."
Jay:
"You're evil."
But I sat back down anyway.
And we continued solving practice questions until the equations finally started making sense.
By the end of the night…
The periodic table didn't look nearly as terrifying.
Jay:
"I might actually pass chemistry."
Keifer leaned forward.
Pressing a soft kiss on my forehead.
Keifer:
"You definitely will."
Jay:
"My very annoying tutor."
Keifer smirked.
Keifer:
"My very dramatic student."
Thursday – Chemistry Exam
(Jay Jay's POV)
Section E looked tired.
But strangely confident.
Blaster walked in carrying notes.
Blaster:
"I studied."
Felix gasped.
Felix:
"Everyone is studying now."
Ci N nodded proudly.
Ci N:
"This is character growth."
Calix looked hopeful.
Calix:
"I memorized reactions."
Eman whispered nervously.
Eman:
"I think I understand acids."
Eran nodded.
Eran:
"I reviewed formulas."
David sat calmly again.
David:
"You'll all pass."
The teacher entered with the exam papers.
Teacher:
"Chemistry exam."
Papers were distributed.
The room fell silent again.
I read the questions carefully.
Chemical equations.
Reaction balancing.
Basic concepts.
And surprisingly…
Most of them looked familiar.
My pen started moving.
Step by step.
Answer after answer.
Across the room Section E was working quietly.
Focused.
Serious.
Blaster whispered softly.
Blaster:
"I know this one."
Felix nodded.
Felix:
"Yes."
Even Ci N looked determined.
Two hours later…
Teacher:
"Pens down."
Everyone leaned back again.
Relieved.
Blaster raised his arms.
Blaster:
"SCIENCE HAS BEEN DEFEATED."
Felix laughed.
Felix:
"I think we passed."
David smiled slightly.
David:
"Told you."
I looked at Keifer.
Jay:
"Another successful exam."
He nodded.
Keifer:
"My student is improving."
Jay:
"Thanks to my tutor."
He leaned closer slightly.
Keifer:
"I expect payment again."
Jay:
"You're unbelievable."
But I still kissed him quickly anyway.
Jay:
"There."
Keifer smiled.
Keifer:
"Worth it."
And somehow…
Section E had now survived four final exams.
But one last exam remained.
And knowing Section E…
The final day would definitely bring the biggest drama yet.
