Lexi's POV
I walked out to find Stephanie's brother-in-law leaning by the doorway, patiently waiting. His hair was covering most of his forehead. I should have told her it wasn't the first time I was meeting him, but I doubt she would react to it much.
Alex finally looked up, his lips curving up into a grin. "Hello, Doctor. How is my sister-in-law?" His voice was sweet and polite. He was acting like this was our first time meeting; does he not fear I might snitch?
This wasn't about me, it's between them. I still needed to know what exactly happened before deciding on anything. I need to know who she married and how much they found out. It seems they are suspicious about her having heart disease, but I need to find out how much they know. I was planning to tell her about his last visit once we met, but I wasn't expecting today's meeting.
"She is fine. I don't see anything wrong."
