Chapter 23 - Chapter 22 — Zenca Forest — The Wrong Beginning

". . . Kaela, what can unite four people is a Donkey in a forest in an unknown world?"

Layra asked, downcast.

"I have no idea. I just want to finish off that fake-bearded god."

Lyra looked at the sun and answered me.

"Fake-bearded god—who is that? . ."

Even though it's been dawn here for a long time.

My private parts are freezing.

This new body is really sensitive. I didn't imagine a female body would be so fragile.

"What did you say, Lyra? I didn't understand."

Lyra seems like a nice girl. Even with that scary face, she killed that orc—it was incredible.

"I think it was the Demon King. That bastard is powerful."

The Demon King? She fought the Demon King? That's dangerous. We have to get out of here. . .

"I don't want to go into the forest."

"Lyra, are you hearing those voices?"

"Ah, it must be Donkey's."

A Donkey?

"Kaela, why are you moving away from me? Do you think I went crazy?"

"It's not that, but could you please… let go?"

She still hasn't noticed?

"Ah, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to touch your . . ."

Layra turned red and started wiping her hand.

"Don't worry." I tried to calm her down.

"Are you sure this is the way out of the forest?"

Lyra stopped and told me.

"If you don't believe me, ask Donkey."

"Where?"

She pointed ahead, and when I looked, there was Donkey and a girl playing—and in the same instant, a boy came out of the bushes.

The girl and Donkey got startled.

"Who are you?"

All of us asked at the same time.

And that's where my adventure in this new world begins.

". . ."

We stared at each other without saying a word. No one understood what was happening.

I just want to put on some clothes, because everyone is staring at me.

"Are you going to keep analyzing me? Aren't you going to introduce yourselves?"

Especially that boy—once he noticed I'd arrived, he wouldn't leave my side.

The girl who was with Donkey started the introductions.

"My name is Seraphine. I'm fifteen years old, and I like cutting hair."

"Nice to meet you." Everyone said.

She's Seraphine. At first glance she looks like a smiling girl, but she talks really loud.

Her black hair highlights her dark eyes.

"You like cutting hair, Seraphine?" I asked her.

She got off Donkey and corrected me.

"I love cutting hair—especially men's hair."

Damn it, he pressed his nose right up against me.

"And also . . ."

The strange boy interrupted her and asked,

"Why men's hair?"

She went back to Donkey, rested her head on his back, and started stroking him. With a sad voice, she explained,

"I need to ease the burden of men."

Donkey headbutted her to push her away and said,

"Do you think I'm a cat?"

I walked up to the boy and asked, "Did you see the same thing I saw?"

He grabbed my hand and said,

"Yes, I did. You've got one hell of a body."

Bastard.

"That's not what I meant—let go of my hand. I'm asking about Donkey."

He scratched his head.

"Yes, I saw it."

Seraphine pulled Donkey's ear and corrected him.

"You brought me to this dangerous place where there's a naked girl who still hasn't realized it."

A naked girl. Who here is naked? Wait—that's me. Hey, it's not like that.

"Also, an emo girl who wants to shoot me with bow and arrow."

"You're a demon. I have to kill you."

"See, Donkey? She thinks I'm a demon."

Seraphine went into machine-gun mode. She doesn't stop talking.

"And a boy with a pervert vibe… although he does carry a heavy burden."

"I am a pervert, actually," the boy confirmed.

Seraphine got tired, lay down on the ground on her back, and said,

"I'm going to sleep."

Donkey started laughing and teasing her.

"You're so lazy. It just turned dawn and you're already going to sleep?"

"Hey—"

Donkey poked Seraphine's arm, but she stayed in the same spot.

"She really fell asleep," Donkey said, incredulous.

He leaned down and whispered in her ear, but I couldn't hear it.

"What are you going to do, Donkey?" I asked him.

"Seraphine is going to have a surprise when she wakes up."

I won't stop him. It's dangerous he might do the same to me.

"Since she won't wake up, we can continue the introductions."

And that's how I met Seraphine: a young girl riding Donkey.

But something bothers me—I've seen this Donkey somewhere before, but I can't remember where.

While I searched for answers…

The strange boy and Layra helped Donkey with his plan.

"You're doing it wrong," the boy said, correcting Donkey.

"I'm not a donkey. I'm a horse."

I started laughing at the situation. It had been a long time since I'd had fun like this.

Something bigger united us for some purpose. I feel it.

"Can't you see me?"

Don't throw dirt on me, you idiots.

"Is it done? I'm tired," Dorian complained.

"Look at the size. A demon could fit in there."

Let me see what these useless idiots did. Damn.

"When Seraphine wakes up, she's going to rip your skin off, Donkey."

Donkey whinnied. And at that moment, I remembered where I knew him from.

"It's you—the one who was with that god in the stable?"

Suddenly, Seraphine woke up and bit Donkey's hoof. He started jumping and kicking. Everyone stepped back.

"Who buried me? Get me out of here!"

I looked away. Dorian did too.

Lyra answered,

"It was Donkey. I had nothing to do with it."

"How 'nothing'? Your hands are full of dirt."

Everyone burst out laughing.

I reached out my hand to Seraphine and said,

"I hope I can count on you in this new adventure."
